La Copa del Rei de Fútbol 1910 ye la octava edición d'esta competición. La edición de 1910 carauterizar por una cisma qu'estremó a los clubes españoles y que forzó la realización de dos campeonatos paralelos, unu en Madrid y otru en San Sebastián.

El campeonatu entamáu pol Club Ciclista de San Sebastián en San Sebastián foi ganáu pol Athletic Club, siendo'l tercer títulu de Copa llográu polos bilbainos.

En Madrid apostóse'l campeonatu entamáu pola Federación Española de Clubes de Fútbol, que foi ganáu pol F. C. Barcelona. Este foi'l primer títulu de Copa llográu polos catalanes.

Unos años más tarde la Real Federación Española de Fútbol, organismu que se fundaría en 1913, reconocería y daría validez a los dos títulos, polo que dambos se contabilicen nel palmarés de la Copa.

Cisma de la Federación

Hasta la edición de 1909 la organización de la Copa del Rei recayera nel Madrid F. C. y na Real Federación de Fútbol de Madrid. Por cuenta de ello toles ediciones celebrárense na capital d'España. Eso amenó protestes de dellos equipos de la periferia, que consideraben que los equipos madrilanos (y especialmente el Madrid F. C.) víense favorecíos por esti fechu.

En xineru de 1909 nueve clubes de fútbol d'España (Madrid F. C., Vigo Sporting, Deportivo de La Coruña, Cartaxena, Círculu Industrial y de Sport d'Avilés, Bilbao F. C., Recreativo de Huelva, Sociedad Gimnástica Española y Club Español de Madrid) fundaron l'antecesora de l'actual R. F. E. F.; la Federación Española de Clubes de Fútbol, organismu que tenía d'asumir la organización de los campeonatos d'España nel futuru. En 1909 la competición apostar de nuevu en Madrid, pero na edición d'esi añu proclamóse campeón el Club Ciclista de San Sebastián, rompiendo una racha de 4 títulos consecutivos del Madrid F. C.

Los donostiarras, na so condición de vixentes campeones, reclamaron entamar la edición de 1910 na so ciudá; pero una mayoría de clubes de la F. E. C. F. oponer a esta reclamación, yá que preferíen que'l tornéu apostar en Madrid. Arriendes de esto estableció una agria disputa ente'l Club Ciclista y estos clubes. La F. E. C. F. tenía un artículu n'el so estatutos que lu facultaba n'esclusiva pa entamar el campeonatu, polo que al Club Ciclista nun-y quedó más remediu qu'intentar crear una organización alternativa, la Unión Española de Clubes de Fútbol. Esta, sicasí, nun llegaría a constituyise hasta 1912 colo qu'esti tornéu de 1910 tuvo entamáu non por un ente federativu rival sinón por un grupu de clubes que nun formaben parte de la F. E. C. F.[1]

Equipos participantes

Los donostiarras llograron atraer nun principiu al so campeonatu a quince clubes non inscritos na F. C. E. F. Pero a lo postrero, solo participaron dos clubes que llograren llograr el títulu de Copa, el Athletic Club y el Madrid F. C. La participación del Athletic Club ye fácilmente esplicable por razones de vecindá colos donostiarras y porque calteníen la mesma reclamación histórica de que'l tornéu nun tenía d'apostar se siempres en Madrid.

Sicasí los historiadores de fútbol nun se ponen d'alcuerdu na razón pola que'l Madrid FC prefirió xugar en San Sebastián, en cuenta de na so casa'l tornéu de la F. E. C. F. Dalgunos aluden a la condición de tornéu de campeones qu'adquiría la competición de San Sebastián, al cuntar cola participación del vixente campeón y del gallardoniáu Athletic Club. Otros falen de la rivalidá que caltenía'l Madrid F. C. col Club Español de Madrid, lo que los llevó a buscar un tornéu alternativu pa nun coincidir colos sos vecinos. Otros consideren que la decisión del Madrid tuvo condicionada polos vicepresidentes de la entidá: José Berraondo, que se colara a vivir a San Sebastián y yera xugador del Club Ciclista y Antonio Vega de Seoane que yera donostiarra y dirixía la sociedá na solombra. Sía que non, el Madrid pasaba por una mala dómina y tuvo qu'allegar a San Sebastián con refuerzos que-y venció la Gimnástica de Madrid.

Curiosamente, el Club Ciclista de San Sebastián, instigador del tornéu, nun participó como tal nel mesmu. En llogrando'l títulu de Copa en 1909, los futbolistes del Club Ciclista decidieron dixebrase del so club y fundar en setiembre de 1909 una sociedá puramente dedicada al fútbol, foi según nació la Real Sociedad de Fútbol. D'alcuerdu a los estatutos qu'esistíen de la Copa del Rei, la Real Sociedad nun tenía antigüedá abonda pa participar nel tornéu de 1910, polo que tomaron el paragües d'otru club deportivu de la ciudá que si los cumplía, el Vasconia Sporting Club. Amás el Vasconia de San Sebastián tuvo que vencer nuna previa al Racing de Irún, pa resolver el representante llocal nel tornéu.

Fase final

Foi'l primer tornéu n'apostase de los dos. Celebróse los díes 19, 20 y 21 de marzu de 1910 nel Estadiu de Ondarreta de San Sebastián. El tornéu foi una liguilla ente Athletic Club, Vasconia Sporting Club de San Sebastián y Madrid F. C.

El partíu decisivu apostóse'l 20 de marzu de 1910 y enfrentó al Athletic Club col Vasconia Sporting Club. Polos bilbainos xugaron dichu partíu los siguientes xugadores: L.Astorquia, Arzuaga, Amann, José María Belauste, Cameron, Grapham, Hurtado, Iza, Burns, Veith y Iceta. L'autor del gol decisivu foi Iza. Per parte del equipu donostiarra xugaron Bea, Poto, A. Sena, Berraondo, Echeberria, Goitisolo, Leturia, Simmons, M. Guinness, Lacort y Sauress

Como datu anecdóticu cabo dicir qu'esta foi la primer ocasión na que'l Athletic Club xugó con camiseta raxona, yá que hasta entós xugaba con una camiseta blanquiazul.

Equipos participantes

Nel tornéu de la Federación Española de Clubes Fútbol inscribiéronse primeramente 7 clubes (Academia d'Infantería de Toledo, F. C. Barcelona, Bilbao F. C., Fortuna de Vigo, Sporting de Irún, Deportivo de la Coruña y Español de Madrid). Sicasí, solo allegaron finalmente 3 d'ellos a la cita, el F. C. Barcelona, el Club Español de Madrid y el Real Club Deportivo de La Coruña. El formatu del tornéu foi idénticu al del otru tornéu, un triangular ente los 3 clubes participantes.

Fase final

Barcelona y Español de Madrid vencieron al Deportivo de la Coruña nos dos primeros partíos del tornéu, quedando'l títulu como un mano a mano ente estos dos equipos. El partíu definitivu apostóse'l 26 de mayu de 1910 nel Campo del Tiru del Pichón de Madrid.

Final

Primeramente l'Español adelantrar al Barcelona por 2-0 con goles de Buylla. El descansu algamar con esta resultancia favorable a los madrilanos que-yos agoraba un trunfu final. Sicasí, na segunda parte'l Barcelona tuvo una reacción demoledora con goles de Rodríguez, Carlos Comamala y Charles Wallace, que-yos dio'l trunfu final.
