Biografía

Fía del cantante Eddie Fisher y de l'actriz Debbie Reynolds. Tien un hermanu menor, Todd Fisher, y los sos güelos paternos son inmigrantes procedentes de Rusia.

Apaeció en delles producciones cola so madre enantes d'empezar el so primer trabayu de cine, cuando interpretó a la engañadora nueva de Warren Beatty en Shampoo (1975), de Hal Ashby.

Dos años dempués surdió'l papel pol que sería llargamente reconocida, la Princesa Leia Organa, na primeramente conocida como La guerra de les galaxes (1977), una interpretación que repitió nes continuaciones The Empire Strikes Back (1980), Return of the Jedi (1983) y The Force Awakens (2015).

Dempués d'estos ésitos lluchó contra la dependencia de les drogues y el alcohol y vivió un infeliz matrimoniu col cantante Paul Simon.

La so carrera cinematográfica resintióse considerablemente lo que se reflexaría na poca calidá de les películes qu'interpretaba, como Under the Rainbow (1981) y Hollywood Vice Squad (1986), quitando a la ganadora de trés premiu Oscar de 1986 Hannah and Her Sisters. A partir d'entós trabayó como actriz secundaria, enfrescando comedies tales como la esitosa When Harry Met Sally... (1989), Sibling Rivalry (1990) y Soapdish (1991).

Ye entós cuando reveló un hasta entós ocultu talentu d'escritora, publicando la novela semi autobiográfica "Postcards from the Edge". En 1990 el direutor Mike Nichols encargó-y el guión pa l'adaptación al cine del so llibru, con Shirley MacLaine nel papel de la so madre nuna dómina de la so vida. Fisher sigue escribiendo y publicó otres noveles como "Surrender the Pink" y "Delusions of Grandma".
