Carlos Prío Socarrás (14 de xunetu de 1903, Bahía Honda – 5 d'abril de 1977, Miami) foi presidente de Cuba dende 1948 gracies al so partíu, Partíu Revolucionariu Cubanu Auténticu hasta que foi depuestu por un golpe militar lideráu por Fulgencio Batista el 10 de marzu de 1952, tres meses primero que se convocaren nueves eleiciones. Primeros años

Yera fíu de Francisco Prío Rivas y María de Regla Socarrás Socarrás.

Participó nes lluches estudiantiles de los años 1920 y la Revolución de 1930.

Dende 1945 hasta 1947 ocupó'l puestu de Primer Ministru. En 1948, participó nes eleiciones presidenciales de Cuba pol so partíu, el Partíu Revolucionariu Cubanu Auténticu. Finalmente resulta ganador con amplia mayoría.

Tres la so eleición, consideróse-y abondo importante pa recibir el saludu del presidente d'Estaos Xuníos Harry Truman. El so periodu presidencial tuvo marcáu por un aumentu de la corrupción y de la violencia qu'esistía ente les distintes facciones polítiques.

Exiliu y muerte

El gobiernu de Carlos Prío Socarrás terminó'l 10 de marzu de 1952 col golpe militar del xeneral Batista. Prío colar a Estaos Xuníos cola so familia ensin defender el so gobiernu ante'l golpe militar.

Tornó a Cuba col trunfu del 1 de xineru de 1959, primero que'l mesmu Fidel Castro llegara a L'Habana. Sicasí, Prío rompió col gobiernu cubanu, dempués de qu'esti declarara marxista-leninista. Prío abandonó la islla en 1961 y volvió a Estaos Xuníos.

Carlos Prío Socarrás suicidar na so casa de Miami el 5 d'abril de 1977.
