La badea d'Hai Long (en vietnamita: Vịnh Hạ Long), tamién llamada badea de Halong o badea de Along, ye una estensión d'agua d'aproximao 1.500 km². Asitiada al norte de Vietnam, na provincia de Quang Ninh, nel golfu de Tonkín, cerca de la frontera China y a 170 km al este de Ḥanói. Estender a lo llargo d'una mariña de 120 km. Destaca la presencia d'elementos cársticos ya islles de dellos tamaños y formes.

Foi declarada como Patrimoniu de la Humanidá pola Unesco nel añu 1994 y ampliada la declaración nel añu 2000. Toma una zona protexida de 150.000 ha. Ye amás, dende'l 11 de payares de 2011 una de les siete maravíes naturales del mundu.

Etimoloxía

Según la lleenda local, hai enforma tiempu, cuando los vietnamites lluchaben contra los invasores chinos provenientes del mar, L'Emperador de Jade unvió una familia de dragones celestiales p'ayudar a defender la so tierra. Estos dragones cuspíen xoyes y jade. Les xoyes convertir nes islles y castros de la badea, xuniéndose pa formar una gran muralla frente a los invasores, y de esa manera llograron fundir los navíos enemigos. En protexendo la so tierra formaron el país conocíu como Vietnam. Hai Long significa «dragón descendente», un nome que vien de una lleenda local.

Según otres versiones, les xoyes yeren perlles y la badea foi creada cuando'l dragón llanzar al mar; al cayer ximelgó la cola y ésta cutió la tierra causando fondos valles y resquiebros que darréu anubrió'l mar.

Allugamientu xeográficu

La badea de Halong atopar nel noroeste de Vietnam ente Y106°56' y Y107°37' y ente N20°43' y N21°09'. La badea empieza nel distritu de Yên Hưng, y pasa pela ciudá de Hai Long y Cẩm Phả nel distritu de Vân Đồn, llindando al sur y sureste col golfu de Tonkín, al norte con China y al oeste y suroeste cola islla de Cat Ba.
