Bélgorod (rusu: Белгород) ye una ciudá, centru alministrativu del óblast de Bélgorod de la Federación Rusa. Ta asitiada principalmente na vera derecha del ríu Siverski Donets, a unos 40 km al norte de la frontera con Ucraína. Tien una población de: 356.402 habitantes según el censu de 2010.

El nome de Bélgorod significa lliteralmente en rusu "ciudá blanca". Etimológicamente se correponde con otros nomes de ciudaes eslaves d'idénticu significáu como: Belgráu, Belogradchik, Białogard, Biograd, Bilhorod, Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi etc.

La ciudá foi fundada por orde del zar Teodoro I de Rusia el 11 de setiembre de 1596 como una fortaleza fronteriza.

L'asentamientu foi mentáu per primer vegada en 1237, cuando foi afarada poles hordas de Batu Khan. Nun ta claru si esti Bélgorod atopar nel mesmu llugar onde la ciudá actual. En 1596 foi refundada por orde del Zar Teodoro I de Rusia como unu de numberosos fuertes creaos pa defender les fronteres del sur de los tártaros de Crimea.[2] Nel sieglu XVII sufrió en delles causes incursiones tártares, contra les que se construyó una muralla de tierra con dolce fuertes que s'estiende por más de 320 km dende'l ríu Vorskla al ríu Don, y llamóse a esta la llinia Byelgorod. En 1666 fundar na ciudá una sede arzobispal.[3]
