Van Hien University is a university located in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It is a private university established in 1997. Van Hien University presently has ten faculties: Tourism, Economics and Management, Information Technology, Social Studies and Telecommunication, Technologies and Engineerings, Finance and Accounting (including Department of Laws), Foreign Languages, Oriental Studies, Arts, and Medical and Pharmacy.
Founded with Decision No 517/TTg by the Vietnamese Prime Minister in 1997, after twenty seven years of development, Van Hien has gone from being a non-state academic institution specializing in Sociology and Humanity to being a private and multi-discipline university offering 39 academic majors and 81 specilizations. Van Hien University is a member of V.U.N. and of Non-Government College and University Association.
The teaching staff consists of 800 lecturers, including visiting lecturers from big business corporates and famous universities in HCMC such as Pedagogy University, Polytechnic University, University of Economics, University of Sociology and Humanity,...
Students at the university receive both scientific knowledge and practical instruction. Currently, Van Hien is setting up inter-university training programs with a view to equip its students with more academic opportunities to study and gain knowledge.
In 2007, Van Hien University finalized the procedures to erect the new campus on Avenue Nguyen Van Linh, close to Dist. 7. It covers an area of 63,000 m2 with a modern facilities including lecture-halls, labs, libraries, gymnastic halls and entertainment areas.
Football team
Not only involving Vietnamese college league with its student football clubs, in 2024, the semi-professional football team of Văn Hiến University competed in the Vietnamese Football League Second Division after purchasing the participation slot of Quảng Nam Youth. This was the first time that a university team appear in the Vietnamese football league system. The club is playing its home matches at the 500-capacity Quận 8 Stadium in Hồ Chí Minh City.[1][2]
