Hi there, Rosie, wherever you happen to be. I have followed with interest the discussions on the WIR templates. It seems to me risky to upset our well-established approach and hope we can succeed in maintaining the present approach. I have been looking at the listings under Template:WIR and was surprised to see there was nothing for Template:WIR/doc/2023 although there are complete listings for previous years. Is this something we should be completing ourselves and, if so, do you know how? Similarly, I see that the list under Template:WIR/meetups ends at February 2018. Perhaps Headbomb can let us know whether any of this is important. While I'm here, on our monthly metrics I finally found out that Earwig had helped us out in the past and am pleased to see that thanks to his rapid response, everything is back to normal again. I was however rather surprised that no one commented on the absence of updates which made me wonder whether it is worthwhile maintaining these pages. I do however appreciate the yearly totals you have been adding. It might be useful to have an update for our eighth anniversary. I'm rather concerned that since the end of May, we have had no contacts with Tagishsimon who has been so helpful on technical and statistical issues. Have you any idea why he is no longer editing?--Ipigott (talk) 09:39, 3 July 2023 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20230703093900","author":"Ipigott","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Ipigott-20230703093900-WIR_templates,_etc.","replies":["c-Rosiestep-20230703104100-Ipigott-20230703093900","c-Headbomb-20230703123600-Ipigott-20230703093900"]}}-->
Hi, Ipigott. I really hope we can continue our present approach with the WIR templates. I think they not only work well for us, but they enthuse us (hey, I'm contributing to the 275th event of Women in Red, wow, so cool). Why diminish the enthusiasm?
WRT "... completing listings for previous years ...", that's beyond my tech knowledge.
I don't know if they are, but if Tagishsimon is a student, it might make sense that they are away for the summer, backpacking somewhere. Of course, there may be entirely different reasons for not editing in a bit. --Rosiestep (talk) 10:41, 3 July 2023 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20230703104100","author":"Rosiestep","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Rosiestep-20230703104100-Ipigott-20230703093900","replies":["c-Ipigott-20230703114400-Rosiestep-20230703104100"]}}-->

(Finally: June pictures updated, with three great RMF concerts! - No cat, but next batch. - If you get a chance to enjoy Diana Tishchenko, don't miss it.) - Leonore played for us at her party (Saturday), on four instruments including baryton, with family (granddaughters!) and colleagues, from Renaissance to Haydn. - My story today is very personal: the DYK appeared on Wikipedia's 15th birthday, and describes a concert I sang. Well the other woman was your grandmother, because they wrote it together. Obviously the lede hasn't yet been expanded and I'm still working through sources, but that piece by Tomić talks about the things they wrote in the private musings and diaries, so it makes them seem much more alive. As I was reading it, I kept thinking of you. The first letter is a bit unclear, but it should be "Milan Savić (Beograd)". The title of the article is "Life and work of Katarina Bogdanović". According to p 311 of this his dates are 1883-1954. Which means for now has to be fair use, as it won't be in the PD until January 2024 in Serbia. Unless someone can find proof of publication before his death, it won't be freely distributive in the US until 2049. I am fairly sure it was taken before she left Belgrade in 1928, primarily because of the style of dress she is wearing. Really appreciate the sleuthing from everyone. Women in Red 8th Anniversary
In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women. That's a lot of biographies created in the effort to close the gender gap. Happy 8th Anniversary! Join us for some virtual cake and add comments or memories and please keep on editing to close the gap!

Thank you, Ipigott. On Day 1, it was an idea. Since Day 2, more or less, you have been one of the most instrumental Wikimedians in the project's success. Thank you for your kind words. The main reason I have spent so much time on the project is simply because it's fun. In fact, I believe my involvement goes back rather further than "Day 2". When I saw Roger's proposal, I encouraged him to go ahead with his wonderful idea of "Pickin' up more women" and I suggested he should try to bring you into the project. I thought we needed a woman and you had already been enormously successful with Women writers. When I saw how things had evolved in Mexico, I was convinced it was an enterprise I should support. Those early days with "Leadership", "Architecture" and "Science" really set the ball rolling. I have never forgotten how way back your son encouraged you to devote more of your Wikipedia time to persuading other people to contribute rather than just writing articles yourself. With your projects, ideas, and your involvement in all levels of Wikipedia/Wikimedia, you have certainly followed his advice. I am also now devoting much more of my editing time to supporting new participants as I realize an active new contributor is worth far more than just another new biography. When I see how productive many of them have become, I'm convinced this is the right course. It's always been a real pleasure working with you, Rosie, and I look forward to many more productive years.--Ipigott (talk) 13:51, 19 July 2023 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20230719135100","author":"Ipigott","type":"comment","level":4,"id":"c-Ipigott-20230719135100-Rosiestep-20230719131600","replies":["c-Rosiestep-20230719135900-Ipigott-20230719135100"]}}-->

Hi, T. E. Meeks. You're welcome and great question! "Authority control" can be included in your first edit when you create a new article, plus "DEFAULTSORT", plus "reflist", plus at least one category. These are articles I created recently; you could check out the first edit on some of them if you'd like to see examples of what I routinely do on my first edit. In mainspace (as opposed to draftspace), it's okay to add everything you plan to include in a new article without waiting for a review. Thanks for what you do around here! --Rosiestep (talk) 13:09, 25 July 2023 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20230725130900","author":"Rosiestep","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Rosiestep-20230725130900-T._E._Meeks-20230725105100","replies":[]}}-->

Today's story is based on a 2011 that would not pass 2023 reviewers, - they have to be of interest to the general public, which opera singers are not, so they say. I wrote an article about Josephine Waconda and wanted to link her to both her father and brother. The issue is that the article about the father, Miguel, was titled Michael (the brother's name). No clue why that was done as every single source cited in what was there called him Miguel. So, I moved the article on dad to Miguel Trujillo. The problem is that now Michael Trujillo is a redirect to that article and I don't know how to make the article on her brother without losing the history on her dad's article. Am I making sense? Can you help, or explain to me what I need to do to create the article on her brother, who was "the first full-blooded Indian to serve as director of the U.S. Indian Health Service".[1] Thanks SusunW (talk) 18:37, 16 August 2023 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20230816183700","author":"SusunW","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-SusunW-20230816183700-Help?","replies":["c-Gerda_Arendt-20230816184700-SusunW-20230816183700"]}}-->

Thanks for the explanation, Rosie. I am also a proponent of being lenient on newspaper articles, given that we often cite them and it's in readers' interest to be able to look up their reputation, and I wish WP:NMEDIA was elevated to an SNG. But The Princeton Progressive is clearly different from The Daily Princetonian — it's an opinionated political journal rather than a campus-focused publication of record, and it's cited less than half a dozen times on Wikipedia (compare to The Daily Princetonian's 400+).
Something that I've observed working with WikiProject Higher education is that prestigious universities often have lower-quality coverage than might be expected, and over time I've come to understand that the "it's associated with an Ivy and therefore must be notable" attitude, which diffuses editor effort across more articles than are needed, is a major reason why. So I think that attitude is something to discourage.
Given all that, I don't think your IAR argument holds water. As an ATD, I'll redirect it to Princeton University § Campus organizations, where it's given an appropriately due one-sentence mention. If Student life at Princeton University becomes an article someday, perhaps it could have a section there. {{u|Sdkb}}talk15:29, 1 September 2023 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20230901152900","author":"Sdkb","type":"comment","level":3,"id":"c-Sdkb-20230901152900-Rosiestep-20230901040200","replies":["c-Rosiestep-20230901155200-Sdkb-20230901152900"]}}-->

Anita Bobasso dear Rosiestep: I can see in your face that you are a good person and I ask you for help. I am 71 years old and its not easy for me to manage all the way around wikipedia.
there is an editor who wants to remove it at all costs because I complained and he did not like it. It is a biography of a singer of typical Argentine "tango" songs, very famous in the last century and that can be verified in the dozens of links in the bio, despite the fact that at that time there was no press like there is now... without Yet she had it. 25 years after she died, press is still talking about her as you can see in this article from 2020 "E de amargar" where noted that the public asked her to repeat the song several times! https://www.historiadealagoas.com.br/antonio-hugo-da-silva-o-boemio-maestro-antonio-paurilio.html Please help me so that it is not deleted, it shows not respect for a famous dead person. very thankful if you can do something to help me!!.Alfredo

Alfredomaraw, thank you for contacting me regarding Anita Bobasso's biography, which has been nominated for deletion. I think it's a nice start to an article on an accomplished woman. I understand how much work it takes to create a woman's biography so I empathize with your sadness that it's been nominated for deletion.
The appropriate course of action at this time is to improve the article if you can. For example, there are several External Links; the information contained in them could be incorporated into the article and the External Link could be converted into a reference. It's okay to engage in conversation on the subject's Article for Deletion page if you have additional information to share, but once you've made your point, it's best to give space for others to comment. Per WP:CIVILITY, it's good practice to stay professional in the comments that we make when dealing with other editors, e.g., not criticize the editor who, in good faith, nominates an article for deletion (in this case, JalenFolf). I understand that you have an opinion, but others do, too, and we are all volunteers. Another good practice is to remain calm in what you write and how you write it. For example, you may be unaware, but it's jarring to read messages in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS as written on the Articles for Deletion page as it denotes shouting.
You and I are both "senior citizens" and there's a lot we can offer the world through our wiki work, so I hope you keep learning and keep writing!
P.S. I'm curious why there is no article yet about her on ES-WP? --Rosiestep (talk) 18:14, 6 September 2023 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20230906181400","author":"Rosiestep","type":"comment","level":3,"id":"c-Rosiestep-20230906181400-Alfredomaraw-20230905175300","replies":["c-Alfredomaraw-20230907114300-Rosiestep-20230906181400"]}}-->

Cool. I was reading on Spanish Wikipedia and my reading of it is so good now I didn't think it would be much effort to translate something! I haven't done much work on the languages over the summer, I'll get back into it now the weather is getting cooler and will try to translate a few a week! ♦ Dr. Blofeld18:57, 19 September 2023 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20230919185700","author":"Dr. Blofeld","type":"comment","level":7,"id":"c-Dr._Blofeld-20230919185700-Ipigott-20230919181600","replies":[]}}-->
Rosie, Ipigott, SusunW and any other page stalkers, I've brought up the idea of an intertranswiki reference bot at the village pump here. I'm not expecting it to be successful, but thought it was worth bringing up if any of you want to comment. ♦ Dr. Blofeld12:29, 22 September 2023 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20230922122900","author":"Dr. Blofeld","type":"comment","level":8,"id":"c-Dr._Blofeld-20230922122900-intertranswiki_reference_bot","replies":[]}}-->
I get what you're saying. It would be nice if a bot could do the translation automatically. Ergo, commonly, I just take the ref's URL and run it through the EN-WP citation maker. --Rosiestep (talk) 12:47, 22 September 2023 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20230922124700","author":"Rosiestep","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Rosiestep-20230922124700-intertranswiki_reference_bot","replies":["c-Ipigott-20230922133500-Rosiestep-20230922124700","c-Ipigott-20230922133900-Rosiestep-20230922124700"]}}-->
Looks like a good idea for those who develop biographies on the basis of word-for-word translations. As I think you know, I nearly always draw on a number of additional sources and create a completely new biography, even if the subject has already been covered in another Wikipedia language. I think nevertheless that there might be a case for facilitating translations not just of Wikipedia articles but of sources quoted. It can be quite a laborious process to turn up, for example, Google translate and copy URLs into to their website item. Same for Yandex, etc. This would be particularly useful for reviewing articles in languages such as Japanese or Finnish (and making things easier for AfC reviewers).--Ipigott (talk) 13:35, 22 September 2023 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20230922133500","author":"Ipigott","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Ipigott-20230922133500-Rosiestep-20230922124700","replies":[]}}-->
Sorry, I now see this is exactly what you are suggesting. I think this is what m:WikiCite (a proposed sister project) is all about, e.g., easily using a reference across all language Wikipedias, e.g., just like images from Wikimedia Commons. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:02, 22 September 2023 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20230922140200","author":"Rosiestep","type":"comment","level":3,"id":"c-Rosiestep-20230922140200-Ipigott-20230922133900","replies":["c-SusunW-20230927135100-Rosiestep-20230922140200"]}}-->
Sorry Dr. Blofeld, I have been away. Literally just arrived home after 19 hours of traveling yesterday. The whole family met in Oklahoma to celebrate mom's 90th. It'll take me a few days to get back in the swing of things. So happy for you, SusunW, that you could be with your mom for her 90th. Wow! BTW, Dr. Blofeld, following your link to the village pump, they mention AnomieBOT, but I've never used it. If others have experience with it, would be interested to know how it works for them. --Rosiestep (talk) 14:56, 27 September 2023 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20230927145600","author":"Rosiestep","type":"comment","level":5,"id":"c-Rosiestep-20230927145600-SusunW-20230927135100","replies":["c-Dr._Blofeld-20230927165400-Rosiestep-20230927145600"]}}-->
Hi Susun! Tulsa? I just tried a source from German Wikipedia Rosie and to my surprise it recognized Template:Internetquelle and formatted it into a citation, but if I clicked save I'm pretty sure the bot wouldn't update it and convert the parameters into English. ♦ Dr. Blofeld16:54, 27 September 2023 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20230927165400","author":"Dr. Blofeld","type":"comment","level":6,"id":"c-Dr._Blofeld-20230927165400-Rosiestep-20230927145600","replies":["c-SusunW-20230927202100-Dr._Blofeld-20230927165400"]}}-->
Thanks Rosie. Dr. Blofeld, flew in and out of Tulsa, but we were actually in Muskogee. I am an actual Okie from Muskogee, just haven't lived there in 40 years.
