Ditto above, plus, it will be easier for you and your co-editors to collaborate on articles if, instead of making multiple consecutive edits in rapid succession on an article, you use the "Show preview" button to view your changes incrementally before finally saving the page once you're satisfied with your edits. Thanks in advance for considering this. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited James E. Murray, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John E. Erickson (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. I can't complain too loudly about your recent edits to my draft article on the 1990 Nebraska gubernatorial election. In fact, I'm very glad that you caught my confusing Bob Martinez with Mel Martinez, the more so since that's an error, and an embarrassing one, that I might very well not have found before launching the article in mainspace.
However, I'd have preferred that you leave a note at my talk page telling me that you'd found errors in the draft and asking if you could correct them. WP:NOBAN gives me the impression that this is the preferred approach called for by Wikiquette. Your edits were all useful and constructive, but those of other editors might conflict with my own plans for the development of the draft; and I'd rather develop it according to my own plans, at least until I release it from userspace and it becomes the world's to edit.
That said, thanks again for catching my mistakes, especially the Martinez mixup. Out of curiosity, how'd you find it? Were you working on Mel and did a what-links-here that turned up my userpage, or did something else lead you there? Thanks for the note. I sympathize with your ancient-computer problems; I enjoyed a power failure just this morning while I was entering a bunch of data on another website, and had to try it again when I could get to a place with a more reliable wireless connection.
As I said, your edits were very useful ones, and I'm glad you caught my mistakes before the article went to mainspace. Which will probably take a while: the current stage of research involves going through microfilmed back-issues of the Omaha World-Herald, and I can only do about half a month at a time before the bleeding from the eyes becomes a problem. One day, however, I hope to get the article launched. Your recent edit summary: "Re-arranging the wording in this caption enables Prudhomme's dates to appear on one line, which I think looks more aesthetically pleasing" reveals a misunderstanding on your part. Line breaks are determined by the software, and depend on size of the screen and fonts. All you did was make it look better to you at your default sizing. You may have made it worse looking for someone else. Or not. It's hard to tell, and it's best to ask on the Talk page first to see if others think there's a problem. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.
Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary.

Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Hello, Rontrigger. I very much appreciate the work you do, and noticed you once again following your series of edits to United States presidential nominating convention. You are a very good copy editor. One of the reasons I noticed that series of edits, though, was that there were so many of them (26!). Only one had an edit summary, but most of the edits were changing verb tense or inserting a missing article "a" or similar. Given that these are all (correctly) marked as minor edits, why did you not combine them? You can use the Show preview button to see what you've got so far, then move on and edit further. It would obviate a long row of redlinks to User:Rontrigger in the page's history and on our watchlists. I know I'm not the only editor who would appreciate that.
Thanks for your consideration, and again for your work. Happy editing. — JohnFromPinckney (talk / edits)15:31, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20230323153100","author":"JohnFromPinckney","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-JohnFromPinckney-20230323153100-Preview_is_your_friend","replies":["c-Eric-20230323214000-JohnFromPinckney-20230323153100"]}}-->

Most of my edits are minor. In this case, the page had been linked to another website I had open, and I'd noticed a couple of errors there. So I opened the page in Wikipedia and fixed them. Then I saw more errors, and continued to read through the page. I simply was distracted and didn't think to make all the edits in one swoop. Normally, I would do that. Not trying to be a wiseguy here, but did you make those five edits here--over the course of four minutes and without using the preview option--merely to bust our collective ass? If so, well played! Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Grand Ole Opry, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:
A "bare URL and missing title" error. References show this error when they do not have a title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)
Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator.

Hello, your contributions to that article are not considered 'minor edits' as per WP:MINOR. Have a good day! StillProcessing (talk) 22:38, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20241115223800","author":"StillProcessing","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-StillProcessing-20241115223800-Dave_Elder_(politician)","replies":["c-Rontrigger-20241116010000-StillProcessing-20241115223800"]}}-->
If you're talking about my adding the middle initial to the opening sentence, kindly note that two of the three footnotes clearly refer to this person as "David A. Elder." If you're talking about my reworking of the paragraph about the primary, recall that the previous version redundantly noted that two incumbents were defeated in the primary after stating that their opponent had beaten them. This is called "tightening."
In the definition of minor edits, it says "A minor edit requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute." This is the situation with the article in question. It should also be noted that I have "extended confirmed" status and my judgment generally has been accepted.
If the edits are unobjectionable, then I see no reason for discussion.
