Help:Searching has been overhauled and updated. The special characters and parameters sections are very useful, and work especially well with SearchSuite's sort and turn off details features.
I'm interested in what you think about SearchSuite. Please post your experiences, suggestions, and questions on its talk page. I stumbled upon your user page when you thanked me for the new welcome template.
Well...thank you for your listing of user scripts! I've been around for so long I still remember when Twinkle was a humble user script, but I hadn't realised how many fantastic "new" ones had appeared since then.
I'd long intended to do something about the various inconsistencies in terms of titling and redirects for articles on Christian Saints, but it always seemed far too time-consuming. Now I've managed to make a start with Sagittarius+
So here's a coffee for having an incredibly useful user page!
Thanks for your Signpost submission. I will recommend that it is run in the upcoming issue. We are having a discussion about who's doing what in terms of editorial control this time around. Anyway there's one content-related item I thought was interesting. Your piece says that some people want to move portals to Wikipedia space, presumably under control of the project, and WP:NOTSOCIALMEDIA is a motivator for the entire discussion. I've also heard in other discussions that projects themselves should be done away with under the NOTSOCIALMEDIA rubric. Not sure how this all would play out, but it might be worth mentioning. ☆ Bri (talk) 17:12, 15 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2018-04-15T17:12:00.000Z","author":"Bri","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Bri-2018-04-15T17:12:00.000Z-Portals_draft","replies":[]}}-->

You are invited to join, and participate in the effort to revitalize and improve the Portal system and all the portals in it.
There are sections on the WikiProject page dedicated to tasks (including WikiGnome tasks too), and areas on the talk page for discussing the improvement and automation of the various features of portals.
Many complaints have been lodged in the RfC to delete all portals, pointing out their various problems. They say that many portals are not maintained, or have fallen out of date, are useless, etc. Many of the !votes indicate that the editors who posted them simply don't believe in the potential of portals anymore.
It's time to change all that. Let's give them reasons to believe in portals, by revitalizing them.
The best response to a deletion nomination is to fix the page that was nominated. The further underway the effort is to improve portals by the time the RfC has run its course, the more of the reasons against portals will no longer apply. RfCs typically run 30 days. There are 19 days left in this one. Let's see how many portals we can update and improve before the RfC is closed, and beyond.
A healthy WikiProject dedicated to supporting and maintaining portals may be the strongest argument of all not to delete.
We may even surprise ourselves and exceed all expectations. Who knows what we will be able to accomplish in what may become the biggest Wikicollaboration in years.
Let's do this.
See ya at the WikiProject!
Sincerely, — The Transhumanist10:24, 21 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2018-04-21T10:24:00.000Z","author":"The Transhumanist","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-The_Transhumanist-2018-04-21T10:24:00.000Z-Invitation_to_WikiProject_Portals","replies":[]}}-->
Re: This edit. Those comments don't belong there, they are part of the RfA. They were innapropriately removed from the RfA and added to the talk page. They have since been re-added to the RfA where they belong, so your edit only serves to create needless duplication. Please self-revert and restore that that talk page section to its proper status. Yes, I posted a question (whether you agreed with it or not), you replied and I responded with a follow up comment and thanked you for your reply. Those 3 posts are a legitimate part of the RfA and should remain. The posts beginning with JBL's off-topic reply were moved to the talk page where they belonged. That should've been the end of it, but JBL them moved our posts there as well, (though they should've remained in the RfA). As I was restoring them to the RfA, it was closed. Now some editors, having no clue what is going on, keep flip-flopping content back and forth with needless reverts, causing the page to become full protected for a week by SQL.
this is the correct version of the RfA, (which needs to be restored) and
this is the correct version of the RfA talk page, (which is fine now as it is).
It's unfortunate all this nonsense occurred. I tried to keep it from derailing your entry to the RfA by moving the off-topic posts to the talk in the first place. Hopefully SQL (who I've pinged) will read this and restore the RfA, or it will be corrected once the protection expires. Hopefully this will put an end to the disruption. - theWOLFchild18:55, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2018-05-02T18:55:00.000Z","author":"Thewolfchild","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Thewolfchild-2018-05-02T18:55:00.000Z-Thewolfchild-2018-05-02T17:33:00.000Z","replies":["c-Pythoncoder-2018-05-02T23:28:00.000Z-Thewolfchild-2018-05-02T18:55:00.000Z"]}}-->
@Thewolfchild: I've put the first 3 replies back to the talk page as a temporary measure until protection is removed, and then we'll see what happens from there. Better on the talk page than hidden in the history, at least for now — but on the main RfA page is better than both. — pythoncoder (talk | contribs) 23:28, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2018-05-02T23:28:00.000Z","author":"Pythoncoder","type":"comment","level":3,"id":"c-Pythoncoder-2018-05-02T23:28:00.000Z-Thewolfchild-2018-05-02T18:55:00.000Z","replies":["c-Thewolfchild-2018-05-03T05:31:00.000Z-Pythoncoder-2018-05-02T23:28:00.000Z"]}}-->
Thanks for that. Apparently once the RfA is closed, they posts can't be re-added, but I have suggested adding them to the bottom of the RfA page, below the closed section, once the protection expires. It's been done before, doesn't violate any rules and should serve as a descent compromise. We'll see how it goes. Hopefully that will be the end it. Thanks again and take care. - theWOLFchild05:31, 3 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2018-05-03T05:31:00.000Z","author":"Thewolfchild","type":"comment","level":4,"id":"c-Thewolfchild-2018-05-03T05:31:00.000Z-Pythoncoder-2018-05-02T23:28:00.000Z","replies":[]}}-->

Hi, thanks for making an updated version of the votesymbols script. I had been maintaining/expanding Ais' version for a couple of years, glad to see someone else give the script some care. However can you fix the close/no consensus keyword detection? Because for example right now it adds the votesymbol to every AfD relist because the notice includes a bolded "consensus". Example: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/GetAmped2. However I seem to recall that two-word couldn't be used in Ais' version so not sure if "no consensus" would even work.... I think in the meantime removing "consensus" as a keyword for the close votesymbol would solve it. We've lived for years without a votesymbol besides "no consensus" results, we can continue doing so I presume. The RfC discussion to eliminate portals was closed May 12, with the statement "There exists a strong consensus against deleting or even deprecating portals at this time." This was made possible because you and others came to the rescue. Thank you for speaking up.
I'd also like to let you know that the Portals WikiProject is working hard to make sure your support of portals was not in vain. Toward that end, we have been working diligently to innovate portals, while building, updating, upgrading, and maintaining them. The project has grown to 80 members so far, and has become a beehive of activity.
Our two main goals at this time are to automate portals (in terms of refreshing, rotating, and selecting content), and to develop a one-page model in order to make obsolete and eliminate most of the 150,000 subpages from the portal namespace by migrating their functions to the portal base pages, using technologies such as selective transclusion. Please feel free to join in on any of the many threads of development at the WikiProject's talk page, or just stop by to see how we are doing. If you have any questions about portals or portal development, that is the best place to ask them.
If you would like to keep abreast of developments on portals, keep in mind that the project's members receive updates on their talk pages. The updates are also posted here, for your convenience.
Again, we can't thank you enough for your support of portals, and we hope to make you proud of your decision. @ToBeFree: Basically, what I did was copy the wikitext of the icon galleries I mentioned as sources, then pasted them into an Excel workbook. After that, I cut-and-pasted each section into a different sheet. (This was the most tedious part.) After that, I used Excel's "Remove duplicates" feature to eliminate the duplicate icons (some manual edits were needed here). After that, I copied and pasted the text from each sheet back into the Wikipedia page. I later added additional icons I found.
The ordering of the sources was more or less random, but I did find yours to be one of the most complete. I am flattered by your stealing of my gallery; I did make a typo correction in the "Questions" section so you may want to incorporate that into yours. — pythoncoder (talk | contribs) 14:50, 9 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2018-06-09T14:50:00.000Z","author":"Pythoncoder","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Pythoncoder-2018-06-09T14:50:00.000Z-ToBeFree-2018-06-09T01:42:00.000Z","replies":[]}}-->

Hello Pythoncoder. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia; if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.
URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Regarding Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/Next issue/Discussion report I humbly suggest you've buried the lead; the community effectively reverted Jimbo on the "royal names" matter. Dl73 (talk) 12:04, 14 August 2018 (UTC) Thank you for the proposed amendment, the aim of which, it is appreciated, was to make the description more conventional. But the description originally used had a particular purpose: the appropriate and most useful parenthetical in this (unique) case is not "singer" but "music hall". The reason is that the original, late performer's name has, unfortunately, been appropriated by a living drag-act/rap "singer" named Christopher Green (who appears to administer his own wikipedia entry, apt itself to cause confusion). This person's appropriation of the name seems to have caused complications in using simply "Ida Barr" with no parenthetical, which would have been preferred. Use of "singer" as a parenthetical for the late Ida Barr is capable of adding confusion. If possible, the ideal solution would be to have "Ida Barr" with no parenthetical; "(Music hall)" would be second best. Thank you for your understanding. 17 August 2018 Dl73 (talk) 12:04, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2018-08-14T12:04:00.000Z","author":"Dl73","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Dl73-2018-08-14T12:04:00.000Z-Amended_parenthetical","replies":["c-Pythoncoder-2018-08-14T13:37:00.000Z-Dl73-2018-08-14T12:04:00.000Z"]}}-->

Hey Pythoncoder,
I just received a {{Uw-nor1}} warning from you about the no original research policy. I however am well aware of the policy, and wasn’t thinking much of it when I made the problem edit, as it has to do with something that’s intra-Wikipedia, and not many sources cover silly Wikipedia events such as vandalism of a famous persons page. And those user warning templates can be kind of annoying, especially if the target user gets the same template message over and over, so I stopped using them for the most part and instead, post a message in my own words about their problem edits instead of templating them, especially if they’re not a new or anonymous user who intends to violate the Wikipedia policies. On that topic, most users seldom intend to violate Wikipedia’s policies. My edit was in good faith, and I didn’t intend to put original research into a very commonly read article, which in this case is Vandalism on Wikipedia. Look at a past message on my talk page for example (the one above the {{uw-nor1}} template message you left me), left by Nightscream. It’s in his own words about adhering to the policies on original research and verifiability. That’s what I do to regulars, longtime users, and well known users who I need to convey a message to that’s represented by a user warning template. Instead of using a standardized template message, I make a message from scratch. Even a level-1 template may seem harsh at times. Also, I stopped using Twinkle because of this. Twinkle fills in an automatic edit summary, so it’s difficult for me to know the mood of the editor issuing me a warning. It’s kinda like sarcasm in a text message without using an emoji to convey your current mood. There’s an essay about templating the regulars at WP:DTR. tl;dr Regulars may be fully aware of Wikipedia’s policies and guidelines, so leaving a template on their talk page might just seem like your reteaching then when they already know what to do and what not to do while editing Wikipedia. Or maybe not. That "do not template the regulars" thing is only a WP:ESSAY -- people still seem to drop templates all over my talk page for the strangest of reasons -- and also I'm not sure that someone who only started editing a few months ago and still has less than one thousand edits is exactly a "regular" as intended by that essay anyway? Level 1 notices generally do assume good faith, so there's altogether too many wikilinks in the above message from Nick Gurr 7777 for anyone to need any trout. Call me crazy, but I do like being templated. So that probably makes me biased towards doing the same thing to other users, even if that's not the best idea. See, I wish there was a self-minnow template, but because {{self-trout}} already is smaller than a {{minnow}}, there wouldn't be much point. I am new to editing wikipedia pages and i don't see how the page is like marketing because i wrote it modelling after other accepted wikipedia pages which have exactly the same flow.
Can you please help me advise what i should remove or help me with your services of writing a proper wikipedia page because the external links i put are from credible news sources and leading newspapers in our country.
My intention is not to market but to create an Efficiencie page that people can read. So you can take out whatever looks like marketing.
Your help on this will be highly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Kavuma

Hello,
As far as I can see you reviewed my article on b2broker entity but when I try to make corrections the page says the article was deleted.
So, I wonder was it you who deleted the article draft and for what reasons? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chronos Waters (talk • contribs) 10:02, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2018-10-08T10:02:00.000Z","author":"Chronos Waters","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Chronos_Waters-2018-10-08T10:02:00.000Z-Deleting_an_article_draft","replies":["c-Pythoncoder-2018-10-08T12:13:00.000Z-Chronos_Waters-2018-10-08T10:02:00.000Z"]}}-->

Hi. I appreciated you joining the team. I'm strictly nothing to do with it now, but during those few months I learned a lot. Most of it just reinforced my evidence that I had already accumulated over the years and as a long-time admin, that far too many users are a nasty bunch of people, and far too few users are prepared to do anything about it - RfA is a prime example of the causal factors why people won't risk writing for The Signpost. If you are going to contribute to the editorial team, you'll need to encourage people to contribute content to it and help maintain standards. Using the magazine or its comment space to create or fan flame wars is something we all need to learn to combat, not just sit back and let it happen. If it hadn't been for all that nonsense, there was a fair chance I would have remained in the seat for a while. I appreciate the monumental effort you put forth, Kudpung. Did you know during my appearance at ANI last spring, an editor brought up the fact that I write humour articles in an attempt to discredit my ability to edit in my area of expertise. OH yes! @Barbara (WVS): Feel free to substitute with the "alternative version" that I made after someone tried to "neutralize" my comments (prior to when that got reverted). Just a heads up while thanking you again for everything you do for the magazine; there is really no need to put attribs to every single line of contributions to pages of multiple entry team efforts such as for example 'In the Media' or 'News and Notes' etc. The collective byline at the top is generally sufficient for all but the more substantial lead entry(s). If people really want to know, they can always check out the history. I realise that I no longer have any official say in the Newsroom, so it's just my 2c. Do you do any research before tagging bad new stubs for deletion or do you just blindly react to the fact that it's a bad new stub with a prod? I. Robert Lehman is very clearly notable, as you probably would have discovered if you did any searching, and your immediate tagging of the article for deletion not only keeps good content out of the encyclopedia but also is problematic from the point of view of WP:BITE. I agree that the stub as written was not in an acceptable shape, but there are other things that you can do in response to that problem than delete delete delete. —David Eppstein (talk) 01:21, 2 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2018-11-02T01:21:00.000Z","author":"David Eppstein","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-David_Eppstein-2018-11-02T01:21:00.000Z-I._Robert_Lehman","replies":[]}}-->

Hello, Pythoncoder. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. 3271960JT — The article needed more references to reliable sources that are independent of the topic, which you have added in the time since I declined the submission. However, I'd like someone else to review the improved draft as I believe it will produce a fairer review if someone who hasn't previously reviewed it reads it. — pythoncoder (talk | contribs) 13:21, 3 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2018-12-03T13:21:00.000Z","author":"Pythoncoder","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Pythoncoder-2018-12-03T13:21:00.000Z-3271960JT-2018-12-03T09:14:00.000Z","replies":[]}}-->
Sadly, wikipedia:years was 99.9% my single-handed endeavor. Even more sadly, my health gravely deteriorated, I all but ceased to edit wp, and wp:years died off. Since you obviously had a pinch of interest, may I ask you, if it is worth revitalizing it by attracting attention of broader wikipedianship? - üser:Altenmann >t04:52, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2018-12-06T04:52:00.000Z","author":"Altenmann","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Altenmann-2018-12-06T04:52:00.000Z-Wikipedia:2001","replies":["c-Pythoncoder-2018-12-06T15:28:00.000Z-Altenmann-2018-12-06T04:52:00.000Z"]}}-->

Hi, hope you are doing well,
I wrote an article about Amin Shahrbanoo, because his known as Young Iranian Director who made a film "The Stranger" in Hollywood, according to IMDB and the way I found about him is on Instagram,
, there were few pages on Instagram with over 400k followers who have posted video about him, and the reason they use Instagram for news these days is that due to filters and some restrictions in our country, most websites are not coming up in Iran, and that's the only way to share news,
however, I was also wanted to make an article about him that way we can help and support him too, but you have denied the article due to IMDB is not a good reference, is the way you can help us,
please search his name in google and see few websites has wrote about him,
Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:E000:214B:E700:5403:9710:2CA9:1109 (talk) 00:47, 7 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2018-12-07T00:47:00.000Z","author":"2605:E000:214B:E700:5403:9710:2CA9:1109","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-2605:E000:214B:E700:5403:9710:2CA9:1109-2018-12-07T00:47:00.000Z-About_Page_Amin_Shahrbanoo_page","replies":[]}}-->

Our survey should take about 10-15 minutes of your time. We hope that you will enjoy it and find the questions interesting. All answers will be kept strictly confidential and will be anonymized before the aggregate results are published. Regretfully, we can only accept responses from people who live in the US due to restrictions in our grant-based funding.
As a reward for your participation, we will randomly pick 1 out of every 5 participants and give them $25 worth of goods of their choice from the Wikipedia store (e.g. Wikipedia themed t-shirts). Note that we can only reward you if you are based in the US.

Hi,
I'm Mamshad,a teenage programmer from Bangladesh. I'm very new in Wikipedia for writing articles. So, I didn't noticed copyright issues while writing this article
This page will be updated day by day and informations are collected from various sources. The official webpage is the most secured source for it. If it is a fully copied page, I'm obviously sorry in that case and I will try my level best to maintain copyrights in this page. Please don't delete this page because this is my first article in Wiki ^_^
Your Sincerely,
Mamshad Shakir Islam,

Hello, thanks for talking to me. I see you've taken a break from Wikipedia for a while, so welcome back! I've removed the infringing text from Bangladesh Honda Private Limited to give you time to fix the article. It is in less danger of being immediately deleted now. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously but since you're a new editor it's unfair to delete the page right away in my opinion. I recommend reading Wikipedia's copyright policy. I will put a template on the page in 24 hours (more or less) telling an administrator to hide the old revisions since they are still copyright violations, but here's the link to the page that you copy-pasted so you can add back info from it in your own words: https://www.bdhonda.com/about-us/about-bhl. It's good that you're adding secondary sources as well. One more thing: please put ~~~~ after your posts. — pythoncoder (talk | contribs) 22:43, 20 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2018-12-20T22:43:00.000Z","author":"Pythoncoder","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Pythoncoder-2018-12-20T22:43:00.000Z-Bangladesh_Honda_Private_Limited_Page_Deletation","replies":[]}}-->

Per [2] I'm not sure if you want to be listed as one of the Editors, or one of the co-Eds-in-Chief? I'm just cleaning up the people listed on the About page. ☆ Bri (talk) 03:23, 23 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2018-12-23T03:23:00.000Z","author":"Bri","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Bri-2018-12-23T03:23:00.000Z-Do_you_want_to_be_listed_as_Signpost_staff?","replies":["c-Pythoncoder-2018-12-23T14:56:00.000Z-Bri-2018-12-23T03:23:00.000Z"]}}-->

I'm trying to get a page up about a company. You reviewed it and rejected it, and I was wondering if I could get some specific instances that need to be corrected in order to fix the problems. Here's a link to the draft page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Shift4_Payments
Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Paul.jonah.paul (talk • contribs) 16:58, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2018-12-27T16:58:00.000Z","author":"Paul.jonah.paul","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Paul.jonah.paul-2018-12-27T16:58:00.000Z-Shift4_Payments_Page","replies":["c-Pythoncoder-2019-02-12T13:28:00.000Z-Paul.jonah.paul-2018-12-27T16:58:00.000Z"]}}-->
@Paul.jonah.paul: Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I declined the article because of its promotional language, such as describing the company's products as "solutions". To fix this problem, you should edit the article to remove instances of the word "solution" or replace "solution" with a less vague and more neutral term like "product" or "service". (If you are using the word "Solution" as part of a product name, such as with Network Solutions, you can leave it in.) — pythoncoder (talk | contribs) 13:28, 12 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2019-02-12T13:28:00.000Z","author":"Pythoncoder","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Pythoncoder-2019-02-12T13:28:00.000Z-Paul.jonah.paul-2018-12-27T16:58:00.000Z","replies":[]}}-->
