Hope all is well. Thank you for your msg, I'll try to remember;). I mentioned you removed removed dispution for genetic section for Iranian people. May I ask why?
thank you for your fast respond! I actually put it up as I strongly disagree with its wording and sources used. I also took a look at other msg on discussion page, seemed a lot of people other than me had concerns about genetic section. My attempts to make some changes were not successful, so....

Hi Nepaheshgar, just checking on a potential signature problem, as there is something in your signature that doesn't seem to be working properly. Could you please check its settings? You can do this by:
Click on "my preferences" at the top of the page
Look for the checkbox that says "Raw signature"
Ensure that the checkbox is not checked
Click "Save" at the bottom of the preferences page
Reply to my message here in the usual way, and sign with four tildes: ~~~~
Then I'll be able to check if it's working properly or not. Thanks, --Elonka23:59, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2008-09-29T23:59:00.000Z","author":"Elonka","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Elonka-2008-09-29T23:59:00.000Z-Signature","replies":["c-Elonka-2008-09-30T01:30:00.000Z-Elonka-2008-09-29T23:59:00.000Z"],"displayName":"El"}}-->

If you say Herodotus said or the state department said, you don't need to have it sourced somewhere else. Herodotus is a famous historian of his time. If you push me I'm happy to add more sourced content in support of this content, but I'd rather just see it included as I'm working on other projects. You've been cutting out anything that's critical and adding very one sided nonsense about how slavery wasn't really so bad. This is an encyclopedia not a propaganda tool. Please stop removing sourced content and find sources for the content you want to add or that contradicts the sourced content added by others. Thank you. ChildofMidnight (talk) 08:12, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2008-12-28T08:12:00.000Z","author":"ChildofMidnight","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-ChildofMidnight-2008-12-28T08:12:00.000Z-Now_you're_removing_comments_from_your_talk_page?","replies":["c-ChildofMidnight-2008-12-28T08:41:00.000Z-ChildofMidnight-2008-12-28T08:12:00.000Z"]}}-->
So the appropriate correction would be to say "according to herodotus" not to remove the entire section. That's one of the best sources we have on that period. And you say the state department is not neutral, but no one said they are neutral. All that's stated is that they list Iran as tier 3 etc. No one is trying to add smears, but this is notable content. Sounds okay to me. I much prefer clarifications as appropriate to wholesale deletion. Herodotus, accurate or not, is a notable historian. I don't know that the tablets to which you refer are any more or less reliable. We have to use the best sources we have stating what the sources are (giving context) and what they say. The state department making accusations is notable. Whether they are true or not is another matter. I'm happy to include sources disputing their conslusions or discussing the politics involved (without getting too far afield). ChildofMidnight (talk) 08:48, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2008-12-28T08:48:00.000Z","author":"ChildofMidnight","type":"comment","level":3,"id":"c-ChildofMidnight-2008-12-28T08:48:00.000Z-ChildofMidnight-2008-12-28T08:41:00.000Z","replies":["c-ChildofMidnight-2008-12-28T09:01:00.000Z-ChildofMidnight-2008-12-28T08:48:00.000Z"]}}-->
Indentured servitude and being held captive and forced to work is certainly a form of slavery. I'm flexible on how it's worded as long as it's accurate and included. These are real issues and I think it's appropriate to include them as they are notable and can be sourced. I'm sure there are third party sources discussing these issues if you'd like to research them more. I don't want to make a big deal out of them, I just want the content fairly included so readers are made aware of the statements and accusations, or positions if you will, of different parties. I've never objected to the statement that slavery is illegal although I think it's unsourced. I take it on good faith that it is true and suggest all of the article be improved with more and better references. I would like it to be written fairly and accurately based on the best sources available. That sounds like a very good idea, though I am unsure how to go into the article. It seems Nasir Khusraw is two very different people. While we can admit Imam Ali was a saint for both Sunni and Shi'a, Nasir Khusraw is mainly an important writer to most, while an important holy figure for Ismailiyya, especially of Afghanistan (we are called Nasiriyya after him). I am also not sure, is his poetry widely read in Iran? He deals with many specific religious topics that could not fit in a Twelver worldview (while Kabir and Guru Nanak who's writings are imported into Iran are not so specific hence are more universal in their appeal) --♥pashtun ismailiyya05:40, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2009-01-25T05:40:00.000Z","author":"Pashtun Ismailiyya","type":"comment","level":3,"id":"c-Pashtun_Ismailiyya-2009-01-25T05:40:00.000Z-Pashtun_Ismailiyya-2009-01-25T05:08:00.000Z","replies":[]}}-->

Dear Nepaheshgar, thank you for your kind and prompt response; thank you also for welcoming me back. I do not know the person and have not read the book, however from my grandparents and the people of their generation I am aware of a very severe famine in Iran before 1920, leading to many deaths. As you have seen in my note to Samadi, I had already signalled a kink in the graph (months ago, long before having known about this book) that he had prepared on the population of Iran over the past 100-120 years. Technically, plotting the logarithm of those data by Samadi as a function of time and using the available data over the population growth rate around that time (i.e. 1920), it is rather straightforward to deduce a relatively reliable value for the number of people who have not survived the famine. Kind regards, --BF 07:27, 28 January 2009 (UTC).[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2009-01-28T07:27:00.000Z","author":"BehnamFarid","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-BehnamFarid-2009-01-28T07:27:00.000Z-BehnamFarid-2009-01-28T02:24:00.000Z","replies":[],"displayName":"--BF 07:27, 28 January 2009 (UTC)"}}-->
Ps: This is the plot at issue: [1]. Please note the kink at 1921. Thank you so much! And it seems to be such a beautiful day too, it's only fitting. Not only do I celebrate Nowruz as an Ismaili, but also as an Afghani. After the Soviets invaded, our entire nation was destroyed by the greatest power of its day. At the end of the war one out of every three Afghanis were not living in Afghanistan but outside the country in places like Iran and Pakistan (my family came as refugees to Pakistan prior to the war), and two million were further in Afghanistan but no longer in their own homes. Kandahar, once 200,000 strong, was reduced to around 10% of that population. One out of every three children did not survive childhood, and only around one out of every hundred children in Afghanistan were not malnourished. Then the Taliban came, banned Nowruz, and when they found out the Farsiwan poets wouldn't go along with their propaganda purposes, persecuted the poets. But, as Khorasani civilization has always fought, wrote poetry, in the vein of Khayyam I think, fighting against what unfortunately was essentially a Pashtun nationalist movement. Nowruz for Afghanistan has returned its original meaning of rebirth after death, that life constantly is created and saved by the Creator and this is a cycle that He will continue as long as He wills. Afghanis have been through so much and seen so much destruction, but we are still here today to celebrate this great day, and our children will be here to see it, and their children, and their children, insha'Allah. --♥pashtun ismailiyya20:49, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2009-03-14T20:49:00.000Z","author":"Pashtun Ismailiyya","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Pashtun_Ismailiyya-2009-03-14T20:49:00.000Z-RE:Nowruz","replies":["c-Pashtun_Ismailiyya-2009-03-20T06:57:00.000Z-Pashtun_Ismailiyya-2009-03-14T20:49:00.000Z"]}}-->

Thanks for the prompt response. It is beyond a doubt that the name Bagrat is of Iranic origin and that is stated everywhere but beyond that we know very little. Of course given that the name is Iranic does not mean that the bearer of the name is Iranic right given that Iranic culture dominated the region since the Medes. Toumanoff and some others have suggested that they might have been an offshoot of the Orontids, whose Iranic origins beyond their names are recorded. Stating this alone without a redundancy should suffice don't you think? There is absolutely no continuity between ancient pre-Christian Armenians and Arewordik or other groups. Modern Armenian pagans are very different from Parsi Zoroastrians in the sense that the Armenian pagans are romanticist, neo-pagans akin to those in Scandinavia or Russia. Their literature is mostly revolving around Mihr most likely because the only surviving temple in Armenia is Garni.

There's no question everything you added to the intro of Central Asian is sourced and good material. It's about how much and which material goes into the intro. Some of what you added is detailed historical information, which belongs perfectly in the history section (did you notice that I only moved it, not removed it?). For the intro only one or two summary sentences are needed for a subject dealt later with in the article. The info the specific historical groups (Sogdians, Chorasmians, Scythians, and Alans) belongs in the history section. See WP:Lead section for more info on this.
The first sentence "During pre-Islamic and early Islamic times, Central Asia was a predominantely Iranian region." has a few problems which I fixed before, and have fixed again. First, what is "Central Asia"? Some definitions, such as the UNESCO definition, include Mongolia, southern Siberia, and Tibet - and of course these were not "Iranian regions", hence the wording "southern Central Asia", in order to be more specific and accurate, while still giving just a general region. Second, saying it was a "predominantely Iranian region" is very vague and rather uninformative - what exactly makes it "Iranian"? My wording, "Ancient Iranian culture has played an important role in the history of southern Central Asia, and Iranian groups such as the Tajiks and Pamiris still reside in the region." more accurately explains what made it Iranian - the cultural heritage, historical legacy, and continuing presence of Iranian peoples. It combines the info from the first few sentences you wrote into once clear, concise sentence, more befitting of an intro section.
Finally, the wording I fixed (for sentences both on the Iranians and the Turks) is simply to improve the the English and flow of the article - no information has been changed, and it simply makes the article and the information more accessible, organized, and clear. Thanks for the suggestions. I will be making changes. Keep in mind there are two kinds Tati languages. First, the Tati languages of Iran are in the Talysh branch (Northwest branch of Western Iranian). The Izady map lists these as Southern Tat. The second group of Tati languages which are spoken in Azerbaijan/Caucasus (the Judeo-Tat and the Muslim Tat) are more closely related to Persian in the Southwest branch of Western Iranian. On the new map, the Southern Tati is not distinguished from Talysh as they are in the same group. A tag has been placed on Shaikh Bahai requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. A tag has been placed on Ahmad Ghazali requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Hi. With regard to our discussion about Albania being a vassal state or not, here's another source which pretty much confirms what Wiesehofer was saying: The Cambridge history of Iran, Volume 1 by Ehsan Yarshater I think this allows us to include that Albania was a vassal state of Sasanian empire, and not just a province. What do you think? I added the info about the vassal state, since the term is used in a number of reliable sources. However, I agree that we lack a detailed info about that period. I think marzban ruled the region after the Albanian Arcasid dynasty became extinct. Before that Albanians had the monarchy. So in different periods Albania was ruled by kings and marzbans. I think if we find better sources about that, we can always add them. Thanks. I have found more Turkish cultural heritage sites that repeat these claims, along with other figures such as Suhrawardi and Attar! It is very displeasing and shameful that they [Turkish government/"scholars with PhD's" would produce such lies, especially given the number of scholastic works such as Britanica, Encycl. Islam, Iranica that say otherwise...And when you try to criticize they will simply say that nationalism is shallow and goes against their teachings...I wish they would get their own historical figures and stop stealing Iran's heritage figures. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ditc (talk • contribs) 08:23, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2010-02-09T08:23:00.000Z","author":"Ditc","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Ditc-2010-02-09T08:23:00.000Z-:(","replies":[]}}-->
Vali Nasr (son of Islamic/Sufi expert Seyyed Hossein Nasr), in his book 'Shia Revival', states that when modern day Karbala was formed, 75% of the inhabitants were Iranian, who gradually became 'Arabized' over the centuries and integrated or accepted Iraqi nationalism over time. An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Ajam. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ajam. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:05, 23 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2010-04-23T01:05:00.000Z","author":"Erwin85Bot","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Erwin85Bot-2010-04-23T01:05:00.000Z-AfD_nomination_of_Ajam","replies":[]}}-->

Hi!
I'm very curious about the content of these two debate poems, about which I learnt from your extensive contributions to the article Asadi Tusi. I was wondering whether you might know of some place online where they are available - preferably in translation, though I would also try my hands in "deciphering" the original.

This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
