Thanks! I had done that here when I first came across it, but likely could have gone farther. Thanks for restoring @Mvcg66b3r's edit on the other article. I question whether dated info such as channel guide did not accurately reflect the actual programming helps the reader, but don't feel particularly strongly about removing it. Turning up a surprise: BLAB had first been associated with channel 53 all the way back in 1993. There may be more for an article than I would have thought! They render it now as Blab TV, but it used to have a backronym for "Basic Local Area Broadcasting". Wound up pumping refs into that page, too. Hello! I just declined a recent [1] report that you made to WP:AIV. Please keep in mind that, as a general rule under our blocking policy, an attempt should be made to educate users about Wikipedia policies and warn them of consequences prior to filing a report to AIV for blocking. This did not occur in this case, and even though you reverted some of the user's edits I can't see any attempts you made to communicate with them prior to reporting; the last warning they received was in February 2019, which by now is fairly stale. There are warning templates out there that can help, although even just typing out a message on the user's talk page can be a good place to start. If the user ends up becoming aware of Wikipedia's policies and stops their destructive behavior, that's worth more than a block could be.--Slon02 (talk)

For several years now, I have perused other TV stations' Wiki pages and noticed that the larger stations had a category titled "Notable Former On-Air Staff," indicating where news reporters and anchors have left to continue their careers elsewhere. As a result I added that same "Notable Former On-Air Staff" feature to WATE in Knoxville, TN and in the past WTVC in Chattanooga. I did this to WTVC just a few days ago. The categories I entered while logged in, disappeared and was gone less than 24 hours later. Before when the deletion happened to WTVC, it was explained to me that the category was unnecessary, even though I pointed out that other stations had the exact same category. I invite you to go to WABC-TV, WAVE-TV, WBTV, WSVN-TV, KING-TV, WLS-TV, WSB-TV, WDSU-TV and countless other TV stations on Wikipedia and look for that category. You'll find it. I then concluded that my deletion must be the result of a size problem; larger stations are allowed to have the entry to tell readers what happened to a station's former news reporters and photographers, but it seems that smaller TV stations are not afforded the same privilege. Or perhaps, it is an East Tennessee thing (both WATE and WTVC are located in East Tennessee). Or even more strange, it is a "me" thing, that anything I add is not acceptable, even though others have made the same entry on dozens, if not hundreds of TV station entries in Wikipedia. I'm a former news anchor at both stations, 10 years at WATE and 25 years at WTVC and I think I have a pretty good idea who left during those years. • Hi Douglassriverview. Our policy is that to be listed as notable, the person must be notable—and have an article on Wikipedia. That's something of a high bar in broadcast journalism because the sentiment (which I share) is that a regional Emmy Award is not enough. I just did an exhaustive search and turned up these former WATE employees who do have articles: Bob Richards (meteorologist), Mark Mancuso, Ann Taylor (newscaster). • Thanks for letting me know. None of the people I would have entered have ever won Emmy awards. regional or national. Nor do they have personal Wiki articles about them. Truth is, anybody can get Emmy statuettes these nowadays. I know reporters who've gotten them after being in the business for a couple of years. Your answer does explain why smaller market TV stations (DMA's 60 to 210) do not have the "Notable Former On-Air Talent" category---those markets have no Emmy chapters that cover their TV markets. There's no way for them to win one. It's a shame that good, hard-working journalists, news anchors and reporters who have never won an Emmy, nor have they had the pleasure of having Wiki articles written about them, are not considered important enough to let people who enjoyed their anchoring and reporting over the years to know what eventually happened to them. They have toiled at their stations in the smaller TV markets for many years and earned the trust and admiration of thousands of viewers... they then retired as local celebrities. I don't run Wikipedia nor do I make the rules, but this is one rule that discriminates against probably hundreds of good, quality people. The regulation clearly places Wikipedia as biased and prejudiced against the less Emmy/Wiki fortunate. I now have a different opinion of Wikipedia as a result. I cannot back and support an organization that openly practices discrimination. Next time an article is split like this, some attribution is needed. See Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. In your case, the content was old enough a content farm had copied it and then it was used to generate a G12 tag. We see a lot of promotional edits like that around these parts, but I have to side with you here, CarlisleRadioGuy. I think the wording Episodes premiere approximately quarterly on WITF's broadcast and previous episodes are available for on-demand streaming through the PBS Video app. is too promotional. That said, an article on a public television station should include as a matter of course information on its local output.
