Hi. I see you uploaded Image:LaTeX logo.svg. You've stated that it is a copyrighted logo to be used under fair use. Would you mind telling me exactly where it came from (URL) and/or double checking that (as it's from a free software organisation) it's not available under a free licence of some sort? Another user wishes to use it in a template which is dubious at best given the current current copyright notice. Please reply at User_talk:Kingboyk#Quick_question. Hi! Nice work you did on the US flags. I am trying to recreate them in SVG and am actually (almost) finished, but I would like to check whether the specifications I used are alright. I always used E=F and G=H as in The specification of the 50-star flag, but I suppose that if these are marked with different letters they may have been different in other versions. Indeed, some do look slightly different from your designs. Can you give me a tip on the exact specifications? Is there a site I have not looked at?
Some other questions...
I always assumed a 1:1.9 ratio. Is it the same for the 15-star? I kept width constant, and added two stripes and increased the height of the Union of one stripe. Is it correct?
The "original" star-spangled banner had crooked stars (according to some sites). Is there a spec or was it just sown in a rush?
Are there any specifications on the Betsy Ross flag, in particular the circle radius?
Thanks for your patience! --Orzetto10:37, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2006-03-15T10:37:00.000Z","author":"Orzetto","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Orzetto-2006-03-15T10:37:00.000Z-Flags_of_the_US","replies":["c-Orzetto-2006-03-20T11:11:00.000Z-Orzetto-2006-03-15T10:37:00.000Z"]}}-->

Hello, I wanted to let you know I've optimized your image, it is down from 21466 bytes to 11922 bytes now and the colors are exactly the same.
I used PNGCrusher (a front-end for OptiPNG) for the optimization and DigitalColor Meter for comparison. I have responded to this posting on my talk page (albeit a bit more angrily than in this post). However, I would like to make sure that you see it. First of all, it helps if you actually identify which page you are talking about. Nowhere in your posting do you explicitly write that you are discussing changes to the Flag of the United States article. (It is implicit in that you wikilink to its talk page.) This makes it a little difficult to respond. More importantly, however, you are accusing me of an a crime I did not commit. If you look at this diff page, you will see that the person responsible for the changes that you are complaining about is MiLo28, not me.

You have done a great job creating the various star patterns the US flag has gone though in the last 200+ years. However, we might need a variant SVG for the 48 star flag. You see, there were two different star patterns used from 1912-1959. The first pattern had the stars in alternating left and right lines and was used to 1920. The second pattern is the familiar rectangle and was used from 1920-1959. An image of the first pattern is here. FOTW has more information here. - Thanks, Hoshie | 20:07, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2006-05-18T20:07:00.000Z","author":"Hoshie","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Hoshie-2006-05-18T20:07:00.000Z-48_star_US_flag_-_another_pattern...","replies":[],"displayName":"Hos"}}-->

Hey again,
It looks like you were correct in your last message about the rectangle alignment of the 48-star flag. I dug up a 1917 photo of Jane Addams and Mary McDowell at a WWI peace march. The only version of the 48-star Addams carried with in the march was the rectangle alignment, not the other one; this leads me to now believe that the left-right alternation alignment used between 1913-ca. 1920 was indeed unofficial. At some point, someone is liable to nail you for "Original Research", if this flag is indeed your own design. Beyond that, I think it unlikely they would use a pattern that would be "top-heavy", i.e that the last row is shorter than the next-to-last: Image:US flag 51 stars.svg
No, not trying to start a fight, just trying to help, since your name was attached to the upload. If this is already a standard-proposed design, "never mind". I only saw your name because I watch the U.S. Flag page. And I forgot the 4 tildes. Normally I do them. Like this. :) Wahkeenah18:15, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2006-08-17T18:15:00.000Z","author":"Wahkeenah","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Wahkeenah-2006-08-17T18:15:00.000Z-51_star_flag?","replies":[]}}-->

I agree with you on both what you removed and what you kept. About youth: maybe this is because young and immature are often confused. You are right, TextMate is pretty young compared to vi or even BBEdit (but, apart from Emacs and some obscure line editors, what can possibly be old compared to vi ? ;-) ). My gripe was about youth as an excuse and an Apple award should discard such an excuse.
All of this IMHO, of course. And as I said, and I'll say it again, your corrections are very good, I'd like more collaborators to be alike you :-)
By the way, do you know any point-per-point comparison between BBEdit and TextMate? Not litterate stuff, just straight, binary, comparison. Noticed you thought the Harvard article needed restructuring and were thinking using Cornell as a model/comparison. If you'd like, I am currently revamping the Rutgers University article including a comprehensive structure I've almagamated from Cornell, and several other university articles (Michigan State, Princeton, Yale, Stanford, Chicago, Washington and a few others). Each university article has its weaknesses, Cornell too, and that's why I thought looking through many university articles would give me a picture of what a comprehensive article would include. Take a look at the Rutgers piece, it may work for you. Need any help, let me know. —ExplorerCDT13:35, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2006-09-20T13:35:00.000Z","author":"ExplorerCDT","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-ExplorerCDT-2006-09-20T13:35:00.000Z-Harvard_restructuring","replies":["c-ExplorerCDT-2006-09-21T19:32:00.000Z-ExplorerCDT-2006-09-20T13:35:00.000Z"]}}-->

Is there a way to numbers on squares in the chess template? For instance, label them 1, 2, 3? I don't know how to do it, but a good way would be that x1 would put a "1" on the square, etc. Can that be done? You said "If you make some additional graphics for numbers, I don't see why you couldn't use them, however. I say go for it". I have no idea of how to do that. "If you upload an image " I don't even have any idea of how to make an image, so I guess I'm out of it. I'd like to do diagrams with corresponding squares numbered, which is why being able to show single-digit numbers would be good. But adding it to the template is beyond what I can do. I made files Chess_x1l.png and Chess_x1d.png (I assume for light and dark) and uploaded them to the commons. I wanted to use x1, x2, etc, to be similar to xx and xo. I put the "44" in and uploaded them to WP (not commons), and it works - except that the background is white. Yes, thanks a lot! I've been struggling with it. I think I found a bug in the old Photoshop Elements 2.0 where it won't save the background. I think I would have eventually gotten it, but I really appreciate your help! I saw your name listed on Wikiproject Illustration or the list of graphic artists, and I thought I'd let you know that a Graphics Lab has been created on EN. Based on the highly successful French and German graphics labs, it seeks to better organise and coordinate our graphic design and photo-editing efforts. Up until now, there has been no common space on EN where users could ask for maps, charts and other SVG files to be created. What's more, the Graphics Lab has discussion boards, tips, tools and links; in sum, a good common workspace. Come help us out! The infrastucture is already in place, and now we need participants. :) --Zantastiktalk02:10, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2006-12-12T02:10:00.000Z","author":"Zantastik","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Zantastik-2006-12-12T02:10:00.000Z-Graphics_Lab","replies":[]}}-->
