Hello. Go to the talk page of Juraj Julije Klović and help out with the discussion. A fanatical Italian user keeps on inserting his POV/nationalism into the article, and has now requested the page be moved to "Giorgio Giulio Clovio" - which is false as the man was a Croat and was born in Croatia. There is a vote on the rename happening on the talk page. Please help, as he is canvassing for votes from other Italian users.
Ignjat Đurđević/Ignazio Giorgi is a similar case (or worse, as there are actually two articles). I'll take a look, but these are very complex issues... I noticed that you changed my stub on the receiver sensitivity article.
I think the one you chose is inappropriate. It says it's about broadcasting, whereas receiver sensitivity is about radio reception, and is something of interest to a much wider field. Broadcasters are normally interested in transmission, and normally have no need to consider receiver sensitivity. Hi, GregorB!
Say, I don't really mind that you hit this article with a "stub" tag. I can easily remove the tag when I've finished writing the article (with citations, no less, in the next hour or so). It's just that you tagged the article 25 minutes after I started writing it! That created an edit conflict for me, breaking my train of thought. How did you spot this brand new article so fast? ;^> DavidCBryant13:17, 20 January 2007 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2007-01-20T13:17:00.000Z","author":"DavidCBryant","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-DavidCBryant-2007-01-20T13:17:00.000Z-Quick_on_the_trigger","replies":[]}}-->
Hello again! Thanks for writing back. No, I didn't lose my edit. I just had to stop thinking about writing and think about something else for a little while, is all. Which is probably OK, since it was just about time to go feed my doggies their breakfast anyway. ;^> DavidCBryant14:12, 20 January 2007 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2007-01-20T14:12:00.000Z","author":"DavidCBryant","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-DavidCBryant-2007-01-20T14:12:00.000Z-Quick_on_the_trigger","replies":["c-Vfp15-2007-07-17T13:27:00.000Z-DavidCBryant-2007-01-20T14:12:00.000Z"]}}-->

I've re-added the proper stub to it. The article is short, with very little actual information. I noticed your edits on Danilo's article and was wondering if you would like to help out with the List of Yugoslavian films article. It's an attempt to gather the best of our cinema (notable, critically acclaimed, award-winning films) and leave out the nationalistic propaganda (except for Yugo nationalism, such as in The Battle of Neretva hehe). Anyway, if you can think of any movies to add to the list, or if you could expand on the articles of movies/actors/directors (as you are already doing w/ Danilo) that would be great! The speedy tag (db-bio) you added to this article was removed inappropriately by the author, and I've restored it. Based on the fact that this article's author has already removed speedy tags twice (one was originally added by another user), I've decided not to add an nn-warn to the author's talk page, as this would likely encourage him/her to just remove the tag again. (I realise I'm violating normal procedure in neglecting to warn the author, but I think discretion and common sense are called for in this instance.) 5. Contains at least one member who was once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise notable; note that it is often most appropriate to use redirects in place of articles on side projects, early bands and such.
from WP:MUSIC, specifically the line from the article "George Parfitt went on to join the band Circulus." and hence the AFD. Therefore, it doesn't qualify under that speedy delete anyways... but yes, I know that you can speedy close AFDs but I don't feel this is the case here. Thanks for bringing it up though. Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Birds of Nepal, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Hi there,
On the page for the album "Industry" by Richard Thompson and Danny Thompson you have flagged a URL that I included as a spam URL.
This is causing me problems. That URL is actually the address for downloading a document that is an analysis of Richard Thompson's song writing. I am working on the Richard Thompson page and discography at the moment and I would like to cite this document as a reference. There is a genuine need for this URL to be used for references.
Can it be "unspammed" please?

Hi GregorB, I noted that you had altered a number of aircraft article infodates to reflect a simple date format. The changes which have involved a link to a date in aviation is the subject of an ongoing WikiAircraft Work Group deliberation. For the time being could you revert your changes, as per discussion. There are mixed views about the reasons for either date format and no consensus has been reached at present and that is why all aviation article editors are leaving Piotr's work as is. Thanks for the compliments, but I did not put even a quarter of an effort I normally would into designing of this template (mainly because I just wanted to fix its major flaws so it could be usable until it's deprecated). Since you (and undoubtedly other editors) prefer to keep using it, I'd probably have to re-visit it again, unless someone else wants to do the re-design. I see someone already complained about default precision being one instead of zero (something I hastily fixed this morning, but unfortunately the fix broke the fractions support).
Anyway, I'll work on the template some more. If you have any ideas you'd like to see implemented, now would be a good time to let me know. By the way, is this template even used for anything but the conversion of human height? If not, all those fractions and other fancy stuff would be an overkill. Thanks for your comments! So, what, no 1/128ths, eh? :)) On a more serious note, since the fractions handling code is borrowed from {{m to ft in}} anyway, {{height}} can either have one of the values hard-coded in (halves), or support whatever denominator people would want to use (in which case the frac parameter will be used to specify what is wanted; and it's possible to use 2 so halves are the default). Limiting the selection to two choices (halves and quarters) would actually require quite a bit more work, so I'd rather leave the flexibility that's there for free already.
Anyway, I'll start working on this as soon as I find a chunk of uninterrupted time (hopefully some time this week). If you happen to think of anything useful to add along the way, don't hesitate to let me know. I didn't know what to do with this micro book report about a part of the Confessions. I edited it as a way of learning a little about St. Augustine. Could it be a fragment of a larger effort? Are there any usage statistics that could be looked at over time? It doesn't seem very useful as is and I have trouble imagining how a user would find it or where links to it would be useful. Hi, you recently applied the {{Height}} template to the infobox for "Oscar Pistorius". It now shows his height as "1.86 m (6 ft 1 in)". The problem is that the source relied on (an American news article) gave his height in feet and inches as "6 ft 1¼ in" – I converted this figure to metres to two decimal places. It means that the figure in metres is less accurate than the figure in feet and inches. Can you fix this? Hi GregorB,
Firstly, I must explain that I am VERY new to Wikipedia, and am trying desperately to follow the rules even though I seem to be mussing something up. So I sincerely apologize if I've made extra work for all the editors out there!
I noticed that you deleted an external link to an .pdf of my Femtosecond Micromachining Handbook, which is uploaded to Wikipedia. For some reason everyone is banishing this information, and it is actually a very valuable piece of information on micromachining with femtosecond lasers. (Please be broad-minded with the term "micromachining" as chemicals can also be micromachined.)
At any rate, I long ago removed anything that would be "commercial" from this resource, and wanted to post it on wikipedia because it is so requested by the users of our corporate website. What do I need to do to keep this up? If you read the actual material in the link, you will find it fascinating. I don't want to break anyone's rules, I just want to offer a valuable resource to the community at large. Can you help me get this right?
Thanks!

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:HS Produkt logo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. I respect what you applied on the Nonito Donaire article. It's okay but let me tell you something. When it comes to indicating the height of people, especially boxers, I wouldn't consider using the height template. Why is that? True, it mentions units for both English and Metric. But the thing I seem to find wrong is that the Metric part is in meters. Judging by what is commonly seen in media, I noticed that a person's height in Metric is mostly measured in centimeters. This is most definitely the norm and what probably should be followed. Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article M Continuum, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.

Regarding your recent style edits to this article, I have consistently maintained an unconventional practice of bolding every decimal point because on my screen decimal points seem too small to be easily seen. I don't want the reader to mistake 2.4 for 24, say. If this is not permitted, than all the decimals in the article should be unbolded. Likewise with the math format of the three formulas I want to emphasize. You changed one of them. I like the bold font of the math format for all three of them, but all three should have the same format, whatever that is. Would it be ok to restore my consistent formatting? Thanks. A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Chris Britt, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.
If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Due to popular demand, HAU has a new look. Since the changes are so dramatic, I may have made some mistakes when translating the data. Please take a look at WP:HAU/EU and make sure your checkmarks are in the right place and feel free to add or remove some. There is a new feature, SoxBot V, a recently approved bot, automatically updates your online/offline status based on the length of time since your last edit. To allow SoxBot V to do this, you'll need to copy [[Category:Wikipedians who use StatusBot]] to your userpage. Obviously you are not required to add this to your userpage, however, without this, your status will always be "offline" at HAU. Thanks. I certainly will inform you if I should notice a discussion taking place somewhere. As things are at the moment, I expect that user:Ev (also supportive of these measures) will send me a note informing me of the debate, which I will gladly pass onto you. Indeed, if the matter should come to a vote then it will be in the interests of all three of us to support the diacritic usage. Obviously, you and I do not need to convince each other of the positive reasons for their appearance as that would be "preaching to the converted." Thanks for the note of encouragement, and remember that I too often roam the site like a headless chicken in search of inspiration, and not knowing where to go one minute to the next. One more quick note, I noticed your recent contributions on some Croatian football players, adding (now Croatia) to the country. That too is something which I wholly support. With me, it has always been the other way, I've always favoured the inclusion of the country of birth at the time of birth; but I definitely support the mention of the present-day land. The only concern with "(now Croatia)" regarding these active footballers is that their place of birth was Croatia then aswell, not the Republic of of course, because that was created in 1991, but the Socialist Republic of certainly. So one positive possibility is to say (eg. born March 19, 1984 in Sarajevo, SR Bosnia and Herzegovina, Yugoslavia); likewise, you could make the present republic more focal (born August 3, 1974 in Sinj, Croatia {formerly Yugoslavia}). You can indeed keep them as they are, it won't hurt, but it does make them look slightly as if Croatia was not in existence when it fact it was. Look back to the past century, the only time Croatia - as with the other republics - did not formally exist was between 1929 (when the constitution banished all political parties and created new administrative units) and 1939 when a Croatian banovina was reinstated. So if we are discussing anyone born, for instance, in 1933: we could say (born in Skoplje <to reflect name at the time; Kingdom of Yugoslavia {now Macedonia}) with some accuracy. But this is just my advice, nothing official; I was only thinking along your line of interest in wishing to see Croatia better highlighted. They (the Croatian editors) still form a necessary majority sometimes, but so do Serbs elsewhere. Across the field, you get similar scenarios involving the Middle East, Africa, South America, the Pacific Islands, and anywhere else there has been some form of conflict these past years: fresh in everyone's mind. The best thing is for all of us to keep away from it, but we can't resist the temptation to "follow the force of gravity" at times, such as when our issues make the Main Page on Wikipedia. About your suggestion - Croatian businessman etc. - I think that it is absolutely fine and would support it. After all, encyclopaedias are all about delivering information in the form of grammatical and intelligible text. If something takes a little longer to explain, then no problem, we go ahead and do it! As long as the outside reader is fully in the picture, you can use an entire paragraph to explain a circumstance.

Hello yet again. I regretfully inform you that the bot we were using to update the user status at Wikipedia:Highly Active Users, SoxBot V, was blocked for its constant updating. With this bot out of operation, a patch is in the works. Until that patch is reviewed and accepted by the developers, some options have been presented to use as workarounds: 1) Qui monobook (not available in Internet Explorer); 2) User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate; 3) Manually updating User:StatusBot/Status/USERNAME; or 4) Not worry about it and wait for the patch to go through, which hopefully won't take long. Thanks for the new information, I shall see what is going on and then make a contribution. About the listing of Croatia & Yugoslavia, I guess you are right that there are many ways to do this and they all meet with some disapproval, if not by one person then another. No we cannot please everyone. It is impossible isn't it? Bruno represented Yugoslavia and he is a Croat. That was the nature of Yugoslavia, six primary nations and a multitude of smaller groups; not the same as Italy where-by you're seen to be Italian if you are from Piedmont and if you are from Sicily. Their most remote population is perhaps the Sardinian people who largely identify as Sardinian. Big problem. Many people actually struggle to grasp the difference between nationality (ethnicity) and nationality (relationship to state). So how about stating that Bruno is a Croatian former athlete who represented (past tense) Yugoslavia when Croatia formed a part of it. The 1991 aspect is very tricky. For one, we don't know in which month he retired, and for another, when do we begin to regard Croatia as independent? My birthday (June 25)? Three months later following an agreement with Western Europe? Or early 1992 when it entered the UN and was formally recognised by the "bulk" of governments? Football is a bit easier as Croatia formed its national side in 1990: it existed one way or another, even if it did not immediately join FIFA and UEFA. I suggest we try to experiment with Bruno Orešar until we can present it in a way that it explains evertyhting, and you ofcourse are satisfied with it. As for the very listing of "Yugoslavia", yes it pains me to see people constantly removing it and I am grateful that many non-local Wikipedians are assertive in restoring the deleted information. We call it historical accuracy. What they need to realise is that this applies to the world over, be it defunct lands such as the USSR or countries whose status has changed, such as the one time Kingdoms of Albania or Italy. For most opponents of this policy, the reasons are often personal: read the edit summary and you find comments such as "country doesn't exist any more", or "don't insult my man by adding that shit country to it." You see Gregor, history is history and you and I can no more change it than we can predict the future. Our dissidents here will have to grow up. I see no reason to be bitter: Croatia prospered very well in the 1960's and the "dark years" involved the break-up itself and the aftermath. Quite literally, the "troubles" as people know them were for the 1991-1995 period. It marred early independence; now if a full scale conflict occured at a different time, such as 1976-1981 (like Zimbabwe's Gukarahunda, 1982-87), with Croatia still destined to split in 1991, then fair enough, people are justified in their reasons for dislike, but even then, it is silly to disclude the mention of "Yugoslavia". But then again, one thing I have noticed over the past two or three years is that no reputable Wikipedian has advocated the disclusion of Yugosolavia, it is normally the members of the "Anonymity Liberation Army" (IP numbers) who play this game, normally without ever adding comments. Even some of the Croatian, Bosnian & Macedonian heavyweights tend to leave that side of things alone. There have been a few Albanians who have objected to the inclusions of Cyrillic spellings on name of Kosovans born before independence, and those who altogether reject the mention of Yugoslavia. In most cases, they have been persuaded to accept the status quo. But going back to those heavyweights, I only wish that they could present their cases more objectively rather than give the articles one-sided angles: this is where conflict is the subject. I hate having to remove "POV" usages and it worries me that some smart swine will revert it back to say "Group A was innocent, never did anything wrong, woke up on the wrong side of bed one morning, and was subsequently slaughtered by Group B", or similar scenarios. I'm curious also to know just how many editors out there know that I am 100% non-allined to any party. I hope you believe that my edits are not aimed at promoting a specific view!! :) Evlekis (talk) 18:57, 4 June 2008 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2008-06-04T18:57:00.000Z","author":"Evlekis","type":"comment","level":4,"id":"c-Evlekis-2008-06-04T18:57:00.000Z-Useight-2008-06-03T22:21:00.000Z","replies":[]}}-->

This is getting tricky. I see it as having to go down to a vote for the tennis and the other places. We don't seem to be able to convince the anti-diacritic mob of the reasons to keep them, and I doubt they will change your position any more than mine. All I seem to read is this pathetic thesis that "it is common not to use diacritics", yet so far, nobody has proven that the plain form (without diacritics) really is standard English. It is only the standard of certain media. I don't think the fight is lost, there are as yet other corners which we havn't explored: in the fullness of time, I will introduce them into the debates. First of all, the correctness of any language has a number of approaches. Most scholars categorise these as being one of prescriptivism, where-by there is one correct form as is "prescribed" by intellects, and its opposite descriptivism, where-by its adherents "describe" usage but are viewed as subversive by the prescriptive party, as their attitude is "anything goes". In reality, people are drawn into some tug-of-war between these schools of thought even though one is 100% incompatible with the other. These discrepancies are further hampered by the fact that English, unlike French, does not have an academy or federation which imposes "correct" language, not that it would prevent change had it existed. The diacritic debate initially appears as though it needs to consult an authority. That "authority" is not there for anyone, and so when it comes to linguistic elements which are more fixed than others (such as spellings), one consults the dictionary. English, as you know, contains words, names and even phrases from hundreds of languages, and all in everyday use. As it happens, the nation's favourites (in the UK), Oxford, Longmans, Collins and Chambers all give both variations of a word or name, with and without the diacritics. The primary spot is with the diacritics, the dictionaries are littered with these foreign marks and the introductions even explain what they are, their name and how they function, and all for English. Modern dictionaries are themselves "articles of confusion", for although they insist that certain things are "incorrect", they move with the times and allow other aspects to be "flexible among variations". That's another story though. The fact is that this will prove conclusively that diacritics are very much a part of English, and may even set a precendent for Brittanica and National Geograhic as you have mentioned. Of course, one can argue the opposite and cite that English is a "free" language with no dictates (hence the discriptive approach), but that too still permits diacritics. So, foreign names enter the language; some writers use the name as in the local written language; no attempt is made elsewhere by anyone to transcribe the name so as to Anglicise it; the remaining media continue to use the names, without the diacritics. Were the diacritics removed? Or did the editor simply type /s/ (situated between /a/ and /d/ on his keyboard as opposed to first selecting HR on the language menu, followed by hitting a key on the far right of the keyboard) instead of /š/? If a writer is not using his editing influence to introduce a new spelling form which is Anglo-friendly, it is plain that he doesn't honestly care. Do we, with better knowledge, look to these people for inspiration on "how to stylise names in English"? It is crazy. A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Scott Vickaryous, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. As you may know, the StatusBot responsible for maintaining the status of the Highly Active Users was taken offline. We now have a replacement in the Qui status system. This semi-automatic system will allow you to easily update your status page found at Special:Mypage/Status which the HAU page code is now designed to read from. If you are already using Qui (or a compatible system) - great! - no action is needed (other than remembering to update your status as necessary). If not, consider installing Qui. You can also manually update this status by changing the page text to online, offline, or busy. While it is not mandatory, the nature of HAU is that people are often seeking a quick answer from someone who is online and keeping our statuses up-to-date will assist with this. Note if you were previously using your /Status page as something other than a one-word status indicator, your HAU entry may have been set to "status=n" to correct display issues. Please clear this parameter if you change things to be "HAU compatible". Further questions can be raised at WT:HAU. Thanks for your comments. The reason I changed the format to day/month is because that is the international format, and I thought the Windows series of articles to have an international flavour rather than American. I understand the criteria you laid out in your reply, and have been trying to follow that format. It would seem, therefore, the Windows articles may come under the mdy format because of their ties to Microsoft, which is US based. I never thought of it like that as I was looking at the articles as a whole, and since Windows is used internationally, I thought they should be in the dmy format. -TonyW (talk) 19:48, 20 September 2008 (UTC)__DTREPLYBUTTONSCONTENT__-->__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2008-09-20T19:48:00.000Z","author":"TonyW","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-TonyW-2008-09-20T19:48:00.000Z-TonyW-2008-09-20T19:18:00.000Z","replies":[]}}-->
