G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

• tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
• updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
• creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

Hello, Greenshed. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. The co-ordinators invite all project members to get involved by nominating any editor they feel merits recognition for their contributions to the project. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:

• tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
• adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages
• updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
• creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.

I suggest you read the second chapter of the thesis that you claim says Montgomery retained a life-long affinity to the Moravian Church. You'll see that since his arrival in West Yorkshire until he was 42 he considered himself in a state of apostasy and eventually asked to be readmitted to the Fulneck congregation. I'm not sure if this is really helpful. There are Torpedo Boats and Motor Torpedo Boats which despite their similar names are very different. The former are ocean going ships and the latter coastal boats - compare the tonnage figures and dimensions to appreciate the difference. I can only say that I took the photo on the Commons myself, during a visit to the Bowood House, which did not involve Alamy or any other 3rd party. I am pretty scrupulous about observing photographic restrictions which are imposed as a condition of entry. Obviously, it was quite a long time ago that I visited the House and so I cannot remember such details now but I did note at the time that "Photography was permitted and there were no visible conditions attached to the permission." Looking closely at the photograph on Alamy, it claims to have been taken on exactly the same date as I took my photograph and from its composition looks to be exactly the same image! You might point these facts out to your publisher but if that's not good enough for them then there is probably not much you can do apart from look for another publisher. While I cannot provide legal advice, I suspect that American publishers might be more amenable to your situation than British ones (see Bridgeman Art Library v. Corel Corp. and Sweat of the brow for some background). All the best with your publishing endeavour. Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Hello. As I indicated in March when you first created the article, there’s a consensus that we don’t have articles on individual Romanian villages, rather treating them together within the parent commune article. There are a variety of reasons for this: the logic of presenting all the information together, the problem of duplicating the same information across several stubs, ease of navigation, etc. Moreover, it’s consistent with WP:GEOLAND, as these villages are not self-administering.

At that time, I also tried to merge what I could into Vânători, Mureș, but didn’t get anywhere, simply because the sources were of poor quality. That remains the case: this is some NGO (not a scholarly work), and this is a self-published website, failing WP:V.

My suggestion: let’s redirect once again, but create and link an article for Archita fortified church, which is notable as a historic monument. And, should WP:RS-compliant material on Archita turn up, by all means that should be added at Vânători. I noticed you created a Category:Populated places with period of establishment missing. What do you suggest should be the purpose and inclusion criteria for such a category? For most places on earth, dates of establishment will be either completely unknown or so vague as to be useless, or a matter of definition (do you count the earliest archaeologically proven settlement on the same place, or the first settlement as an actual city, or the first settlement that has proven temporal and cultural continuity with the present, etc). The category suggest that something is missing from the article that "ought to be added", but what if there simply isn't? At the same time, you added the category to Istanbul, which actually does have a clearly defined foundation date, which is mentioned prominently in the lede, so how was that "missing"? I can't help the feeling this category is not going to be useful.
