A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Inter City, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
Not likely to meet notability guideline. Also, the book that's referenced may not even exist.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. -calvinps- (talk) 09:50, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2009-04-05T09:50:00.000Z","author":"Calvinps","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Calvinps-2009-04-05T09:50:00.000Z-Proposed_deletion_of_Inter_City","replies":[],"displayName":"-calvinps-"}}-->

I can categorically state that I am not the person "toggling" with you, I have only ever edited logged in. I know that the colour has previously been brown, quite when it changed to white I am not sure, most certainly it has been white for this millenium. I am friends with several people still working at KES and their end of year photographs (on facebook) clearly show Levett's colour being white at the end of the last term. While that may be a tiny bit of OR, it would seem to confirm the status quo. Thank you for your comments on my talk page. I'm sorry that this reply will be a little rushed and could benefit from me checking out the wikipedia policies I am calling in aid of my point.
Having said all that, I'm afraid that my view is that house colours have no place in a wikipedia article. Not only are there problems with sourcing the information - as you seem to acknowledge, a source availale to the general public does not seem to exist - but I would ask you to consider whether an encyclopaedia is the right place for the information. My view (and I think there is a policy that supports this but as above lack of time means that I am failing to point you to it) is that an encyclopaedia is not designed to contain every possible piece of information about a subject - but all the information that a non expert would find useful about a subject. If I am right in that view, I would respectfully suggest that a non expert on KE would not find it useful to know about the history of house colours.
Again, my apologies for the somewhat terse nature of this reply. Potatoes only take so long to boil! Unless we can find a reference specifically linking Dominic Dromgoole to Wedmore I would leave it out. I'm not quite sure who you mean by Patrick (? Dominic's father) then if there are enough reliable sources about the person you could always start an article.
Did you also spot my question on the talk page about whether the chemist & pharmacist mentioned are in fact the same building? I came across both of these while working through the Somerset wikiproject cleanup list as both were tagged with citation needed.— Rodtalk21:05, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2010-11-12T21:05:00.000Z","author":"Rodw","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Rodw-2010-11-12T21:05:00.000Z-Wedmore","replies":[],"displayName":"Rod"}}-->

In re your note on my talk page, your proposed rewording looks reasonable. The main thing is to eschew your earlier POV phrases such as "possibly surpassing all these", "should not be overlooked", and "such massive themes". Thank you for adding references; however, you do not need four references for this one entry. I recommend dropping the blog (blogs are not WP:RS) and also Mr Rudkin's own website (for the same reason), and rolling the other two into a single citation, remembering to add the authors' names, article title and either publication or access date - see e.g. reference 33 for how to do this. I can do this for you if you have any difficulty.
I saw the play on the television at the time, and thought it quite good, though I remember being irritated at one point by what seemed to me a disrespectful use of a phrase from Gerontius. I disagree with your definition of a lattice girder vs a truss bridge. I do agree that there is likely a better example than the Braunstone Bridge.
To me, a truss bridge will be determinate in its individual members. And a lattice girder will not be. This is because the diagonals cross over other members--either other diagonals or vertical members, as is the case for the Braunstone Bridge. Also, because it is acting as a whole (indeterminate for individual members) it bends like a girder and the top and bottom are like the flanges of a girder. No bending there per se, but bending as a whole.
This reference here shows examples in figures 116 and 117 of lattice girders both with and without vertical members. Also, on page 259 it says "lattice girders usually have vertical members situated at certain intervals along the girder.
Also, this reference here defines a bowstring lattice girder which does not have parallel top and bottom members.
In the end, it is not how you or I would define a lattice girder, but how published material does it. Certainly, the Lattice girder patented by Ithiel Town is of the type you describe--no verticals and an easily recognized lattice.
In summary, it is often hard to classify a bridge simply by a picture. For the Braunstone bridge, references have been added which define it as a bowstring lattice girder. If you can find references which say differently, that's a discussion to have on the article talk page. - ¢Spender1983 (talk) 03:13, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2010-12-27T03:13:00.000Z","author":"PennySpender1983","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-PennySpender1983-2010-12-27T03:13:00.000Z-Lattice_girder","replies":["c-PennySpender1983-2011-01-03T06:00:00.000Z-PennySpender1983-2010-12-27T03:13:00.000Z"],"displayName":"\u00a2Spender1983"}}-->

A tag has been placed on List of lattice truss bridges in the United Kingdom, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an article talk page, file description page, file talk page, MediaWiki page, MediaWiki talk page, category talk page, portal talk page, template talk page, help talk, user page, user talk or special page from the main/article space.
If you can fix the redirect to point to a mainspace page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you are fixing the redirect. If you think the redirect should be retained as is for some reason, you can request that administrators wait a while before deleting it. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your reasoning on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Hi. The name of Yale University is taken from its benefactor Elihu Yale. The place to add anything about Elihu Yale's name or background is on his bio entry, not that of the university. Elihu Yale's entry has quite a bit about the family in Wales, including a drawing of the family home that I placed there recently. Thank you for your recent contributions, such as Coelbren Junction railway station. Getting started creating new articles on Wikipedia can be tricky, and you might like to try creating a draft version first, which you can then ask for feedback on if necessary, with less risk of speedy deletion. Do make sure you also read help available to you, including Your First Article and the Tutorial. You might also like to try the Article Wizard, which has an option to create a draft version. Thank you. In response to your query. The entry is about the school, not about the authors. The simple fact that it is mentioned or referred to is enough for an encyclopaedic entry. I think you are getting into features of the books (e.g. being about Birmingham), not the school, and in addition giving too much interpretation rather than just citing a source. This is my understanding of Wiki style.
