- Oooh, that's weird. I've never seen it before. I tried it on my python setup (after reverting the first file to test), and looking at the temp files saved on the PC, both temp files (original and reduced) are rotated - so it's rotated when the routine just saves the image. It seems to be down to modern cameras - I tried it on File:Testorientation.JPG (also a portrait, a pic of mine with a modern DSLR), and got the same effect - I think it must be the "Orientation Rotated 90° CW" in the EXIF - python thinks my image is 6000x4000, not 4000x6000, however if the EXIF data is then transferred to the smaller image (as per the original Theo routine), then wiki will rotate it back upright - check my test page and File:Large Oval with Points, Columbus, Ohio, 2018.jpg. You routine seems to have lost the original EXIF transfer for jpgs. - @Another Believer and JJMC89: I've restarted User:Theo's Little Bot Task 1 - it has the required routine (def metadata) in the source (https://github.com/theopolisme/theobot/blob/master/NonFreeImageResizer/littleimage.py) to move all the EXIF data in a jpg to the reduced sized file. It will probably run for a few months before it runs out of temp storage space (which is why DatBot6 was created). If it's still running on the server, then it should kick in at 06:00. I'll check the edits tomorrow. The non-free image resizer resizes images raw, without any gamma correction.
This is not only incorrect, but also breaks some images, for exmaple [[1]]
This image is an example of dithering and is now broken. Not much we can do (besides making a new image), but had the resizer corrected for sRGB gamma, then this image would've possibly looked better. Notice the dark bands in this - had the image been scaled down with gamma correction, those dark bands would not be there.

- (talk page stalker) @2602:30A:2C3A:6810:6A05:CAFF:FE14:624F: I suspect you are stuck with what you get. It's all down to using the Python Imaging Library for scaling the image. If you need to show such examples, then it's best to try to crop to 100,000 pixels, rather than reduce the image. You can always ask at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content if they think that the image can stay at the larger size - then your problem is solved, the size is only a guideline, if can be exceeded if needs require. Hey, for the cover of Alternate Presidents you got the wrong cover. The cover you got was from a different book called Alternate Tyrants.
Alternate Presidents looks like this.
