This template has at various times been involved in what appears to be a concerted attempt to promote the University of Strathclyde, seeking to establish the claim that it was established in 1796, when in fact that date refers to the foundation of the Andersonian Institution, which is a precursor of a precursor of the university, the university itself being founded in 1964.
Slightly unusually, attempts to make changes on this page have included Dundee along with Strathclyde. Once again Dundee as an independent university dates from 1967, being part of St Andrews until that date. As on other pages no account is taken of the precursors of Heriot-Watt or Robert Gordon University, which have claims at least as good as Strathclyde and probably better than Dundee.
If you believe that there are good grounds for singling out Strathclyde and Dundee for special treatment then please explain them here rather than blindly reverting edits. Oh, and I forgot Queen Margaret University, which traces its origins back to 1875, but only became a university in 2007.
