Is Hatfield supposed to be listed twice? Yes — the CDP is the central part of the town, not the whole town, and doesn't have the boundaries of the entire town. If you've not seen the idea of a "CDP" before, read the article on census-designated place: this is a census-designated place within the town of Hatfield. You're not the only one to find this confusing and/or annoying; if I remember right, the Census Bureau has decided that they won't define census-designated places within towns in this way in next year's census.
