As seen on my talk page, I removed gubernatorial races from this template, as they belong in their own existing template and clutter this one, but the template creator is quite unwilling to engage in productive discussion.--Muboshgu (talk) 22:52, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2009-03-06T22:52:00.000Z","author":"Muboshgu","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Muboshgu-2009-03-06T22:52:00.000Z-Dispute","replies":[]}}-->

Forget it, Muboshgu. This was one of my working tools. I will create another one. No reverts, I will replace everything again and again. Keep off my back, I'm not a teenager blogger with speculative articles on future events. I do historical research. And I need a nav box for it. I have no interest in getting caught in the middle of this ill-tempered war and I don't want to seem condescending, but perhaps starting a personal sandbox page named something like User:Kraxler/NY Elections template would allow you to work in peace.
¶ As I've indicated elsewhere (Talk:New York state election, 1848), new years should be promptly added as state election pages are completed to the "Elections by Year" navigation box in the previous Template:ElectionsNY, while Template:New York City mayoralty elections provides a precedent for having both a specialized template (with many red-linked years) at the foot of the State Election pages, and Template:ElectionsNY running along the right-hand side. (See, e.g., New York City mayoral election, 2001.) —— Shakescene (talk) 09:04, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2009-03-08T09:04:00.000Z","author":"Shakescene","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Shakescene-2009-03-08T09:04:00.000Z-Kraxler-2009-03-07T20:40:00.000Z","replies":["c-Kraxler-2009-03-08T22:45:00.000Z-Shakescene-2009-03-08T09:04:00.000Z"],"displayName":"\u2014\u2014 Shakescene"}}-->
Shakescene, I need that template on the article pages, to go forward snd backward in a click while creating new articles in the sandbox, if it was hidden somewhere it would take a few clicks and the whole thing gets confused and costs time. Besides, I will move all "gubernatorial election" articles to "state election" as I progress through the years, and although the old title remains a redirect, I'll fix the links, so that the years appear in bold type in the template on the related article page.
I will fix this template again on Monday and please look at Muboshgu's user page for my ultimate position on this. I'm covered by the wiki guidelines (WP:POINT), any administrator will decide in my favor in this case. Imagine, I just write articles and get attacked by a tagger and threatened with edit-war over an otherwise absolutely unimportant template if I don't submit to some high-jacker's point of view. What has that Muboshgu guy to do with my state election articles anyway? I have edited in Wikipedia for years, have never been involved in an edit war before, have never disrupted anybody's work, have made a few suggestions and sometimes abandoned them, if other users' arguments were consistently enough against them, and have occasionally apologized for being rash. But do I have to take this much bullying from a guy who has ANBSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with my work? I don't think so.
After settling this dispute, we will fix also the ElectionsNY template somehow, I'm sure we arrive at some sensible solution, Shakescene. There is nothing major wrong with the ElectionsNY template. Do we really need to include the winners of every New York Senate election in the template? I don't think so, since it sort of spoils the fun of reading the actual articles for those interested to see who won, and it gets very monotonous anyway... 69.121.17.200 (talk) 22:54, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2013-07-02T22:54:00.000Z","author":"69.121.17.200","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-69.121.17.200-2013-07-02T22:54:00.000Z-Winners?","replies":["c-Frietjes-2013-07-02T23:03:00.000Z-69.121.17.200-2013-07-02T22:54:00.000Z"]}}-->

If we are going to have one giant template with e.g. Template:NY2006elections redirecting to it, can we at least remove those redirected templates from the articles so the giant template doesn't have to be loaded twice (e.g. once when Template:New York U.S. Senate elections is called and then again when Template:NY2006elections is called?
