The Segamat railway station is a Malaysian train station located at and named after the town of Segamat, Segamat District, Johor. This station provides KTM Intercity train services. Adjacent to the railway station is the bus & taxi terminal. It was announced that KTM ETS train services to Padang Besar and Butterworth would be extended to the new station on 1 July 2024, however this post was since retracted, and there has been no services to this new station since.[1] This extension in train service is now expected to start after mid-November 2024.[2]

History

The station was first built in 1909 when the West Coast Line was extended from Gemas to Segamat. In 1924, the station was reconstructed with a bigger building at the same place.

The old station ceased operations on 28 April 2021 and was temporarily transferred to the Segamat Temporary Railway Station located 3.7 km (2.3 mi) away. The old station will be demolished to make way for a new station to be constructed as part of the Gemas-Johor Bahru Double Tracking and Electrification Project.[3] As of October 2023, the new station building had already been completed with KTMB testing the station's internal and external lighting, passenger announcement and information systems, as well as the station's signalling.

Railway operations were transferred from the temporary station to the new station when it was opened at 7:00am on 15 May 2024.[4]
