Riccardo Gagliolo (Italian pronunciation:[ɡaʎˈʎɔːlo]; born 28 April 1990) is a professional footballer who plays as a left back for Ascoli. Born in Italy to an Italian father and a Swedish mother, he won one cap for the Sweden national team in 2019.
In the summer of 2012, Gagliolo joined Carpi after a trial.[1] On 3 July 2013, he signed a new deal with the club extending until 2017.[2]
On 24 August 2013, Gagliolo made his Serie B debut, starting in a 1–0 loss at Ternana;[3] he scored his first goal on 29 December, the only goal of the game in a home win over Juve Stabia.[4]
On 24 July 2022, Gagliolo moved to Reggina on a multi-year contract.[5]
Riccardo Gagliolo was born in Imperia, Italy to an Italian father and a Swedish mother from Sundsvall.[9][10] Gagliolo understands the Swedish language well but has said that he struggles to speak it himself.[11] His mother Eva eventually moved back to Sweden where she died after a long illness in spring 2020 as Gagliolo was stuck in Italy due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[12] His maternal grandfather played football for Essviks AIF, near Sundsvall.
