It is one of the important landing sites of the hawksbill turtles in the state.[1] A turtle conservation and information centre was set up by the Department of Fisheries at fishing village Kampung Padang Kemunting to protect the species.[2] The beach features turtle sculptures, which were installed by Alor Gajah Municipal Council on 28 December 2020 with a cost of RM 20,000.[3][4] Many tourists frequented there for outdoor activities such as picnic, swimming, fishing and camping.[5]
