Noitamina (ノイタミナ , stylized noitaminA , "Animation " written backwards ) is a Japanese programming block on Fuji Television devoted to anime , originally broadcast every Thursday late night/Friday morning from 0:45 to 1:15 JST. It was launched with the intention of expanding the target audience beyond the typical young male demographic.[ 1] The block debuted in April 2005 as a half-hour block. All anime production under the block are joint-venue by Fuji TV, Dentsu and usually Sony Music Entertainment Japan or its subsidiary Aniplex .
The timeslot was expanded from a half hour to a full hour in 2010, and airs Thursday nights/Friday morning on 0:45 to 1:45 JST, but returned to half an hour timeslot in 2015 due to 5 Noitamina-produced films to be shown in Japanese theaters in the same year.[ 2] The only non-anime series aired on Noitamina was the live-action adaptation of Moyashimon: Tales of Agriculture in 2010.[ 3]
On April 15, 2010, Fuji TV and Funimation announced an agreement that allows Funimation to simulcast series from the Noitamina block in North America within an hour of their airing in Japan.[ 4] The deal was transferred to Aniplex of America after Funimation acquired in 2017 by Sony, the owner of Aniplex.[citation needed ]
From 2016 to 2018, Fuji TV signed a deal with Amazon to exclusively stream and simulcast series from the Noitamina block through their Prime Instant Video service on March 17, 2016, starting with Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress ,[ 5] with The Promised Neverland being the first title since the deal to no longer be exclusive to Prime Video outside Japan.[ 6]
On December 9, 2024, Fuji TV announced that Noitamina would move to an earlier timeslot for the first time which would mark the first time the block aired on a network timeslot, which is specifically at 11:00 PM.[ 7]

Notes
^ All series before the change to an hour time-slot started at 0:45. Starting with The House of Five Leaves and The Tatami Galaxy , one show started at 0:45 and the second at 1:15. If there is a dash (—) and not a time, the show was part of the half-hour block and started at 0:45.
^ Anohana was rebroadcast at noitaminA in 2013
^ Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the broadcast for The Millionaire Detective Balance: Unlimited was suspended after two episodes. The show was replaced with a rebroadcast of Tsuritama .
^ Psycho-Pass was rebroadcast at noitaminA in 2014. The series was re-edited into 11 one-hour episodes
^ Katanagatari was a rerun which aired in both slots
^ Last two episodes aired during the final week pushing its episode total to 13 that includes episode 0 that aired on its start date.
^ Starting April 2015, noitaminA's timeslot was reduced from an hour-long to half an hour. There is only one anime shown per season in the block. The cause of the timeslot-reducing was the production of six noitaminA-produced anime films that were planned to be shown in the same year (only five were shown, while the sixth film was released two years later in 2017).
