Mehazabien Chowdhury is a Bangladeshi actress, model and the winner of Lux Channel I Superstar 2009.[1] She began her acting career after winning Lux Channel I Superstar,[2][3] a Bangladeshi beauty pageant.[4] Her success in the pageant opened doors for her acting career. Chowdhury rose to prominence after featuring in a television commercial for Banglalink, a mobile phone operator, which brought her to the limelight. She made her debut in the television drama Tumi Thako Shindhu Pare, which was broadcast on ATN Bangla. Since then, she has starred in several popular dramas such as Boro Chele, Chompa House, Buker Ba Pashe, Alo, Lota Audio, Chirokal Aaj, and Kajoler Din Ratri. Chowdhury is widely recognized for her versatility in acting and has received numerous awards and accolades for her performances. Her notable awards include the Meril-Prothom Alo Awards (2017, 2018, 2019,[5] and 2021), and the CJFB Performance Award (2012, 2013, 2014, 2019, 2020 and 2021).[6] In 2018, she received the Babisas Award for her performance in the play Sonali Danar Chil. Bangladesh Police Women Network (BPWN) honoured Chowdhury for her drama, Alo, where she played a police sergeant.[7]
Chowdhury began her career as a model. After winning the Lux Channel I Superstar contest,[11] she started working in the media regularly. Chowdhury's first television debut was in Tumi Thako Shindhu Parey.[12] She then started to appear in television commercials.[13] She played the heroine in the romantic-comedy telefilm Ekai 100,[14] and in 2017, she starred in the television drama Boro Chele.[15][16] In February 2022, her first web film, Redrum, directed by Vicky Zahed, was released on Chorki.[17]
Chowdhury has gained widespread recognition as a brand ambassador for various brands. She first rose to prominence in the media industry through her participation in Lux Channel I Superstar, a popular reality show in Bangladesh. However, it was her work as a model in Lux's advertisements that helped her gain popularity among the Bangladeshi audience. She also served as the brand ambassador of Banglalink in 2019. In 2020, Chowdhury was chosen as a brand ambassador for Bata Bangladesh, a multinational footwear brand.[26] In 2023, Chowdhury was announced as a brand ambassador for Daraz Bangladesh, an online marketplace.[27][28] Chowdhury is currently a brand ambassador of Nihar Naturals hair oil.[13]
Judge
In 2016, Chowdhury served as a guest judge on the dance reality show Mangoli-Channeli Shera Nachiye,[29] which was broadcast on Channel i on 5 April 2016. In 2022, she appeared as a guest judge for a singing reality show Square Surer Shera which was broadcast on Maasranga Television.[30]
