American golfer
Luke Clanton (born November 5, 2003) is an American amateur golfer . He rose to world number one in the World Amateur Golf Ranking in August 2024.[ 3]
Amateur career
In 2022, Clanton won the Azalea Invitational .[ 4] Also in 2022, he won the North and South Amateur at Pinehurst Resort .[ 5] [ 6] It was also at Pinehurst Resort where Clanton competed in the 2024 U.S. Open , finishing T-41.
In July 2024, Clanton became the first amateur since 1958 to finish in the top-10 in back-to-back PGA Tour events.[ 7] He was awarded the Mark H. McCormack Medal as the top amateur golfer at the end of the 2024 season.[ 8]
Clanton plays college golf at Florida State University where he has won four events.[ 9]
