Robert H. May	1861	1866	May served five 1-year terms during the period of the Civil War. In 1865, he was ordered by Georgia Governor Joseph E. Brown to burn the large amounts of cotton stored in Augusta warehouses "on the approach of the Yankees," so it would not fall into enemy's hands.
