Kurka Rural District (Persian: دهستان كوركا)^[3] is in the Central District of Astaneh-ye Ashrafiyeh County, Gilan province, Iran.^[4] Its capital is the village of Kashal-e Azad Sara.^[5] The previous capital of the rural district was the former village of Kurka.^[6]

Demographics

Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the rural district's population was 12,936 in 3,729 households.^[7] There were 10,374 inhabitants in 3,436 households at the following census of 2011.^[8] The 2016 census measured the population of the rural district as 10,250 in 3,602 households. The most populous of its 22 villages was Chur Kuchan, with 1,271 people.^[2]
