Kolej Tuanku Ja'afar (KTJ) is a premier international school located in Mantin, Seremban District, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, catering to students aged 3 to 19 years. Founded in 1989 by members of the Negeri Sembilan Royal Family, KTJ was established with the vision of integrating the strengths of a British-style boarding education with the vibrancy of Malaysian culture.

History

KTJ was established with a focus on holistic education that combines academic achievement with character development. Initial funding came from 17 Malaysian companies that supported the school's vision, leading to the construction of its facilities. The school welcomed its first cohort of over 100 students in January 1991, and since then, it has expanded its international student body, currently representing over 24 countries.[8]

Secondary Education

KTJ Secondary encompasses Forms 1 to 5 and the Sixth Form. The curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum, with bespoke syllabi for Forms 1 to 3 and IGCSE preparation for Forms 4 and 5. The Sixth Form focuses on A Levels and preparation for higher education.

Primary Education

KTJ Primary serves children from Early Years to Primary Years 1 to 6. The curriculum combines the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) for Early Years with the English National Curriculum and International Primary Curriculum (IPC) for Key Stages 1 and 2.

Boarding Facilities

KTJ offers boarding facilities that promote independence and life skills. The school has seven senior boarding houses and one junior house, providing communal areas for study and recreation. Boarding staff, including Houseparents, assist students in their academic and personal development.

KTJ has recorded notable academic achievements, with a significant percentage of A Level entries graded A* and A*-B. Recent IGCSE results indicate that half of the students received A*-B grades in seven or more subjects.
