The station opened on 10 November 1918 as Miyake Station (三宅駅).[1] It was renamed Kaminaka Station on 10 April 1956.[1] With the privatization of Japanese National Railways (JNR) on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of JR West.[1]
Passenger statistics
In fiscal 2016, the station was used by an average of 268 passengers daily (boarding passengers only).[2]
