James Staunton

James Staunton (b Ballyoskill 20 February 1889; d Enniscorthy 27 June 1963) was an Irish Roman Catholic Bishop.[1]

Staunton was ordained priest on 22 June 1913.[2] He served in the Diocese of Ossory. A Jesuit,[3] he was Bishop of Ferns from 1938 until his death.[4] Dr Staunton was a council father at the Second Vatican Council.

Thomas Somerset, 1st Viscount Somerset (1579[1]–1651) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1601 and 1611. He was raised to the Peerage of Ireland in 1626.
