Iona is a 2015 drama film directed by Scott Graham and starring Ruth Negga. It is set on the Scottish island of Iona.

The film earned Ruth Negga a nomination for Best Actress at the 2016 British Academy Scotland Awards.[1]

Summary

A young woman and her teenage son flee Glasgow, running from a violent crime. They seek refuge in her birthplace, the isle of Iona after which she is named. As they attempt to live among the religious community she left behind, Iona’s son Bull is exposed to a way of life that she had rejected when she left the island as a teenager. As Bull seeks forgiveness for what he has done, and Iona’s family try to cope with her return, Iona comes to terms with her own loss of faith.

On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 63%, based on 16 reviews with an average rating of 5.64/10.[2]
