The Cumberland Valley School District is a large, rural and suburban public school district located in Central Pennsylvania. It covers Hampden Township, Monroe Township, Middlesex Township and Silver Spring Township in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. According to 2000 federal census data, it served a resident population of 46,926. By 2010, the district's population increased to 54,670 people.[1] In 2009, the district residents’ per capita income was $28,440, while the median family income was $66,515.[2] In the Commonwealth, the median family income was $49,501[3] and the United States median family income was $49,445, in 2010.[4] By 2013, the median household income in the United States rose to $52,100.[5]
The district is served by the Capital Area Intermediate Unit 15, which offers a variety of services, including a completely developed K-12 curriculum that is mapped and aligned with the Pennsylvania Academic Standards (available online), shared services, a group purchasing program and a wide variety of special education and special needs services.

David Christopher served as superintendent until December 1, 2023, as Christopher became the superintendent of the West Chester Area School District. On December 4 of that year,[7] Mark Blanchard became the superintendent.[8]
As of April 18th, 2024 this school board unanimously voted to cancel Maulik Pancholy appearance to read his book [1]"The Best At It" to students at Mountain View Middle School. The book is about anti-bullying, inclusion, and identity.

Extracurriculars
Cumberland Valley School District also provides a wide variety of clubs, activities and an extensive sports program.[9][10] Varsity and junior varsity athletic activities are under the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association.
