The film centers on two criminal fraternal twin brothers: Mike, known as "Moke", and Jady. The film begins on Thanksgiving 1994, when the boys are 12. In voiceover it is revealed that the family business is crime: the boys are working to crack open a lock box they have stolen from their school. Their mother and her boyfriend arrive momentarily, but only to grab a plate of turkey and flee the police with stolen emeralds.
Thirty years later, Moke is trying to reform and get his life together now that he is married and has a child on the way, and Jady is fresh out of prison and looking for a new score. Facing legal troubles, gunfights, and family drama, they must reconcile their differences with each other and their mother who they haven't seen since she fled thirty years earlier. The two embark on a dangerous heist road trip, eventually securing the emeralds, and reconciling.
In October 2023, Amazon MGM Studios acquired distribution rights to the film.[8] The film was released in select theaters in the United States on October 10, 2024, before debuting on Amazon Prime Video on October 17, 2024.[9][10]
