Farrington was married to, and divorced from, actor Hobart Bosworth.[4] Her relationship with Bosworth led to his divorce from a previous wife in 1903. In the divorce suit, the keeper of a boardinghouse testified that Bosworth and Farrington had represented themselves to her as husband and wife when they lodged there. Bosworth offered no defense in that suit.[5]
On December 19, 1936, Farrington died in Los Angeles at age 69. Her body was cremated following the funeral two days later.[6]

"Alice Lake [...] comes from Brooklyn, and at a recent gathering of prominent screen and stage folks someone sought to liven the occasion by joking her about it. [...] 'I was born in Brooklyn and I like to go back to it and I love to see my pictures there, where the home folks can see little Alice on the screen. As a matter of fact, I am not the only stage woman that Brooklyn has brought to light, not by a long shot. Gladys Brockwell was born in Brooklyn. Viola Dana was born in Brooklyn. Marion Davies was born in Brooklyn, so were Adele Farrington, Shirley Mason, Anita Stewart, Constance Talmadge, Lillian Walker and a lot of others.'"
