Abdullahi Aliyu Sumaila (23 March 1946 – 11 January 2003) was a Nigerian politician and administrator. One of the first administrators to inherit the post first republican administrative structure instituted by the military, served the Local Education Authority, Kano State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria from 1967 to 2003 in various positions.[1]
Background
His father was paternally from the Madinawan Kano Clan and maternally from the Jobawa Fulani and Fulanin Chango Clans. His mother descents from Kofar Yamma Sumaila. He was born at Mandawari, Kofar Kudu Sumaila. He attended Islamic School at Sumaila where he memorized the Quran and Maliki Islamic Jurisprudence Books, He attended Sumaila Junior Primary School from 1956-1959, Sumaila Senior Primary School from 1960-1962, Wudil Teachers College from 1963-1967 where he earned a Grade II Teachers Certificate, Advanced Teachers College Kano, Institute of Education ABU Zaria from 1968-1970, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria from 1970-1974 where he earned a BSc Social Science Degree in Government (Political Science), he returned to the same University for his postgraduate studies at the Department of Political Science from 1976-1977.[2][3]

He was married to Mrs Saude Abdullahi Aliyu (nee Sarkin Fulani Abdullahi-Maikano Mahmoud Dawaki Bello Sarkin Wudil and had seven children.[11]
