Ashok Kumar (born 5 June 1970), popularly known as Aatral Ashok Kumar is an Indian politician who is a member of Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhakam (AIADMK).[1][2] In the 2024 general election of India, Aatral Ashok Kumar contested as a candidate[3][4][5] for the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and finished second place in his constituency[6][7][8] Ashok Kumar founded the TIPS Group of Schools, introducing the first International Baccalaureate (IB) World Schools to Tamil Nadu and Kerala[9].[10][11] He established the Aatral Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing rural education and community development[12].[13]
Early life
Ashok Kumar was born to Prof. R. Arumugam, a retired mathematics professor from Government Arts College[14],and Mrs.K. S. Soundram.,a former professor at Kongu Nadu Arts College[15] who later became a Member of Parliament for the Tiruchengodu Constituency (currently the Erode Constituency) in 1991.
