Football tournament season
The 1971–72 City Cup was the 67th edition of the City Cup, a cup competition in Northern Irish football.[1]
The tournament was won by Ballymena United for the 1st time after they defeated Ards 1–0 in the final at The Oval.[2][3]
This year the tournament reverted to the format used in 1969–70 and would remain this way until the tournament was discontinued.[4]
