The 1966 U.S. Figure Skating Championships was held in Berkeley, California, from January 26 to 29, 1966. Medals were awarded in three colors: gold (first), silver (second), and bronze (third) in four disciplines – men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing – across three levels: senior, junior, and novice.

The event determined the U.S. team for the 1966 World Championships.

1964 nation champion Scott Allen defeated defending title-holder Gary Visconti for the crown. Tim Wood had three falls in his program and fell to fourth behind Billy Chapel, who received an ovation for his skate.

Peggy Fleming was judged unanimously in first place to capture her third straight national crown. Albertina Noyes was the unanimous second place skater by the judges.

Following the retirement of 1965 champs Vivian and Ronald Joseph, Cynthia Kauffman and Ronald Kauffman moved up to grab the crown.
