الشراع المغناطيسي في ريح الجسيمات المشحونة. يولد الشراع مجالًا مغناطيسيًا يمثله سهام حمراء تؤدي إلى تشتيت الجزيئات إلى اليسار. القوة على الشراع عكس ذلك.
يمكن للشراع المغنطيسي أن يتجه مباشرة ضد الغلاف المغناطيسي للكوكب والكواكب الشمسية.[4]
