كبل الفئة 5

كبل الفئة الخامسة أو كبل فئة 5[1] أحد عائلات كبول الزوج الملتوي. غالبا ما يكون هذا النوع غير مغلفا ويعتمد على مزية الالتواء اللولبي لتقليل تأثير الضوضاء إلى أقل حد ممكن. ويوفر هذ النوع أداء يصل إلى 100 ميغا هيرتز. وهي مناسبة لتوصيلات الإيثرنت السريعة 100BASE-TX، ومناسبة كذلك لتوصيلات جيجا بايت إيثرنت 1000BASE-T. ويستخدم كبل فئة 5 أيضاً لإيصال إشارات أخرى مثل الاتصالات الهاتفية والمحادثات المرئية. ومشكلتها أن معظم كيابل الفئة 5 غير معزولة بعازل يحميها من الترددات الخارجية، ولكن تم حل هذه المشكلة بإصدار نوع آخر من الوصلات يسمى فئة 5e المحسنة، وكذلك الإصدار الجديد كبل فئة 6.
