Glynis Johns

Glynis Johns gebore Glynis Margaret Payne Johns (5 Oktober 1923-4 Januarie 2024)[1] was 'n Suid-Afrikaans-gebore Britse aktrise, danser, musikant en sangeres. Johns, wat erken word as 'n rolprent- en broadway-ikoon, was veral bekend vir die oorspronklike rol van Desiree Armfeldt in A Little Night Music op Broadway, waarvoor sy 'n Tony gewen het. Toekenning vir beste aktrise in 'n musiekblyspel, en vir die vertolking van Winifred Banks in Walt Disney se musikale rolprent Mary Poppins. Toe Olivia de Havilland in 2020 dood was, het Johns die oudste lewende Academy Award benoemde in enige toneelspelkategorie geword. Johns was bekend vir die asemrowende kwaliteit van haar heer stem en opgewekte persona,[2] sy is een van die laaste oorlewende sterre uit die Klassieke Hollywood-bioskoop era en die klassieke jare van die Verenigde Koninkryk rolprentteater.
