Corneli(u)s Kok II (Kamiesberg, 1778 – Campbell, 1858) was 'n leier (kaptein) van die Griekwas in Suid-Afrika.

Biografie

Kok was die seun van kaptein Cornelius Kok I. Hy vestig hom met sy vader in Griekwastad en later in Campbell. Nadat sy vader in 1820 oorlede is, dien Kok as kaptein van Campbell tot sy ouer broer Adam Kok II van Griekwastad terugkeer. Adam Kok III tree egter af om homself by die Bergenaars te voeg, waarna Cornelius Kok II weer die kaptein word.

In 1823 wen Cornelius Kok II, Adam Kok II, Andries Waterboer en Barend Barends die Slag by Dithakong, waardeur die Griekwas die terreur van die Mfecane gespaar bly. Die jaar daarop kom Cornelius Kok in konflik met sy broer en die Bergenaars, wat hy saam met Waterboer naby Fauresmith verslaan. Kok se volgelinge is egter aan die Bergenaars se kant. Om sy leierskap te behou verbreek hy bande met Waterboer, wat weer 'n nuwe territoriale konflik oplewer. Adam Kok II dien as vredesbemiddelaar en 'n grens is tussen Waterboer se Griekwastad en Cornelius Kok se Campbell vasgestel.

Na die dood van Adam Kok II ontstaan 'n opvolgingstryd tussen sy seuns: Abraham Kok, gesteun deur Cornelius Kok II, en Adam Kok III, gesteun deur Waterboer. Die klein burgeroorlog is deur Adam Kok III gewen en Cornelius Kok II is as kaptein afgesit, maar in die praktyk het weinig verander. Andries Waterboer is in 1852 oorlede, maar sy seun Nicolaas Waterboer het die territoriale konflikte met Kok voortgesit.

In 1857 oorhandig die ou en sieklike Kok, met die steun van sy volgelinge, sy territorium aan sy neef Adam Kok III. Hy is vroeg in 1858 in Campbell oorlede.
