Zhili (sebelumnya diromanisasi menjadi Chihli) adalah sebuah provinsi di Tiongkok yang pernah berdiri dari masa Dinasti Ming pada abad ke-14 hingga provinsi tersebut dibubarkan pada tahun 1928 selama periode pemimpin-pemimpin perang. Nama "Zhili" berarti "diperintah secara langsung" dan menunjukkan bahwa wilayah tersebut secara langsung diperintah oleh pemerintahan pusat di Tiongkok.

Sejarah

Provinsi Zhili pertama kali didirikan pada masa Dinasti Ming ketika ibu kota Tiongkok terletak di kota Nanjing. Pada tahun 1403, Kaisar Yongle memindahkan ibu kota ke Beiping, yang kemudian diganti namanya menjadi Beijing.[1] Wilayah yang dikenal dengan sebutan "Zhili Utara" terdiri dari provinsi Hebei, Henan, dan Shandong pada masa modern, ditambah dengan kotamadya Beijing dan Tianjin. Sementara itu, kawasan "Zhili Selatan" terletak di sekitar "ibu kota cadangan" Nanjing yang mencakup wilayah provinsi Jiangsu dan Anhui pada masa modern serta kotamadya Shanghai.

Pada masa Dinasti Qing, Nanjing tidak lagi menjadi "ibu kota kedua" dan Zhili Selatan menjadi provinsi biasa yang disebut Jiangnan, sementara Zhili Utara diganti namanya menjadi Provinsi Zhili. Pada abad ke-18, perbatasan provinsi Zhili diubah dan mencakup wilayah Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Liaoning barat dan Henan utara.
