Yeoju

Yeoju (여주시) adalah sebuah kota yang terletak di provinsi Gyeonggi, Korea Selatan. Kota ini dinaikkan statusnya dari sebuah kabupaten pada tanggal 23 September 2013.^[1] Kota Yeoju terletak 80 km dari Seoul dan dialiri oleh Sungai Namhan yang di wilayah ini dinamakan Yeogang atau Sungai Yeo.^[2]

Sungai Yeo merupakan aliran terpenting di Yeoju yang digunakan untuk mengairi lahan pertanian dan sebagai jalur transportasi.^[2] Kota Yeoju dihubungkan dengan Seoul melalui Jalan Tol Yeongdong sehingga memudahkan akses ke wilayah tersebut.^[2]

Makam raja-raja Dinasti Joseon

Di sebelah barat laut Yeoju terdapat Yeongneung, makam Raja Sejong (bertahta 1418-1450) beserta Ratu Sohyeon.^[3] Komplek makam Raja Sejong ditumbuhi rerumputan dan dikelilingi pohon-pohon cemara. Makam lain yang berdekatan dengan Yeongneung adalah makam Raja Hyojong yang memerintah tahun 1649-1659.

Kuil Shilleuk

Shilleuksa atau Kuil Shilleuk adalah kuil Buddha yang berada di sebelah timur laut Yeoju. Kuil Shilleuk dibangun oleh Wonhyo, biksu Silla pada masa pemerintahan Raja Jinpyeong (579-632). Kuil ini terkenal dengan pemandangan tepi sungai dari Pendopo Yeongwollu.

Desa marga Min

Desa Shinjeom di sebelah utara Kuil Shilleuk adalah kampung asal marga Min di Korea. Tokoh-tokoh terkenal yang berasal dari marga Min antara lain Ratu Min atau Maharani Myeongseong dan Min Yeong-hwan. Ratu Min adalah ratu Korea yang terakhir pada masa Dinasti Joseon yang dibunuh oleh mata-mata Jepang di Istana Gyeongbok. Masa kecil Ratu Min dihabiskan di sebuah rumah di Desa Neunghyeon.
