William Hung (Hanzi: 洪業; 27 Oktober 1893 – 22 Desember 1980), adalah seorang sejarawan dan ahli sinologi asal Tiongkok yang mengajar selama bertahun-tahun di Universitas Yenching, Peking, yang merupakan universitas Kristen terkemuka di Tiongkok, dia juga pernah mengajar di Universitas Harvard. Hung dikenal karena membawa standar modern keilmuan untuk mempelajari tulisan-tulisan klasik Tiongkok, untuk mengedit Seri Indeks Harvard-Yenching dan biografi tentang Du Fu, Tu Fu: Penyair Terbesar Tiongkok, yang mana dianggap klasik di dunia Inggris pada studi Du Fu.[1] Ia menjadi seorang Kristen saat menjadi mahasiswa di Anglo-Chinese College di Fuzhou, kemudian pergi ke Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, Ohio, Columbia Universitas, dan Union Theological Seminary. Sekembalinya ke China, dia menjadi Profesor dan Dekan Universitas Yenching, di mana dia berperan penting dalam mendirikan Harvard-Yenching Institute.[2] Dia datang ke Harvard pada tahun 1946 dan menghabiskan sisa hidupnya di Cambridge, Massachusetts, mengajar dan membimbing siswa.

William Hung adalah anak tertua dari enam bersaudara. Ayahnya memberinya "nama sekolah" Hong Ye ("Perusahaan Besar"), dan kemudian ketika dia berangkat ke Amerika Serikat, dia mengambil nama yang diberikan William. Dia menikah dengan Rhoda Kong pada tahun 1919, dan pasangan itu memiliki tiga anak, Ruth, Gertrude, dan Agnes.
