Wahyu pribadi

Dalam Teologi Katolik, wahyu pribadi adalah sebuah contoh wahyu, dalam pengertian istilah yang lebih luas, tentang realitas ilahi kepada seseorang atau beberapa orang. Hal ini berbeda dengan wahyu yang diperuntukkan bagi umat manusia secara luas, yang kadang-kadang disebut wahyu publik.

Dalam agama Katolik, terdapat kecenderungan skeptis resmi terhadap laporan wahyu pribadi. Ketika diakui oleh otoritas gereja – setelah kredibilitas dan signifikansi keagamaannya dinilai positif oleh uskup Katolik setempat – pesan-pesan ini dianggap bermanfaat bagi umat beriman "dalam periode sejarah tertentu". Namun, keyakinan terhadap hal-hal tersebut disamakan dengan keyakinan manusia, dan bukan iman yang dianugerahkan secara supernatural, dan keyakinan semacam itu tidak diajarkan secara dogmatis. Wahyu pribadi datang dalam berbagai jenis, seperti penampakan Maria dan penglihatan. Wahyu apa pun yang demikian dianggap tidak menambah atau mengubah wahyu yang telah lengkap, melainkan sebagai pesan surgawi yang membantu penerimanya dan umat beriman lainnya untuk hidup melalui wahyu.^[1] Wahyu pribadi tidak dapat melampaui, mengoreksi, memperbaiki, memenuhi, melengkapi, atau menyempurnakan wahyu publik.^[2]
