Vincent Joseph Martin Di Maio (22 Maret 1941 – 18 September 2022) adalah seorang ahli patologi Amerika Serikat dan ahli di bidang luka tembak. Lahir di Brooklyn, New York,[1][2] ia adalah seorang ahli patologi anatomi, klinis dan forensik bersertifikat, dan konsultan patologi forensik swasta.[3]
Di Maio adalah putra Dominick Di Maio, kepala pemeriksa medis di Kota New York.[4] Vincent Di Maio kuliah di Universitas St. John dan Universitas Negeri New York (SUNY). Ia lulus pada tahun 1965 dari Downstate Medical School dan menerima pelatihan pascasarjana di Universitas Duke, SUNY, dan Kantor Kepala Pemeriksa Medis Maryland.[5][6]
Di Maio adalah seorang veteran Korps Medis Angkatan Darat AS, dan menjabat sebagai kepala pemeriksa medis di San Antonio, Texas, hingga tahun 2006, ketika ia pensiun; Di Maio memiliki pengalaman lebih dari 40 tahun sebagai ahli patologi forensik.[5][7][8][9] Dia adalah pemimpin redaksi American Journal of Forensic Medicine and Pathology, dan merupakan profesor di Departemen Patologi di Pusat Ilmu Kesehatan Universitas Texas di San Antonio.[5] Di Maio adalah anggota National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) dan American Academy of Forensic Sciences, dan pada tahun 2011, ia diangkat ke Texas Forensic Science Commission oleh Gubernur Rick Perry.[3][10]
Di Maio menulis atau ikut menulis empat buku dan sejumlah artikel yang berkaitan dengan patologi forensik, dan memenangkan beberapa penghargaan atas karyanya, termasuk Penghargaan Layanan Luar Biasa dari National Association of Medical Examiners.[5] Di Maio memberikan kesaksian ahli dalam sejumlah persidangan tingkat tinggi, termasuk penggalian jenazah Lee Harvey Oswald pada tanggal 4 Oktober 1981, dan persidangan pembunuhan George Zimmerman[11] dan memberikan pendapat ahli tentang kematian Vincent Van Gogh.[12]
Di Maio meninggal karena komplikasi COVID-19 di rumahnya di San Antonio, Texas, pada 18 September 2022, pada usia 81 tahun.[2] Ia dimakamkan di Pemakaman Nasional Fort Sam Houston.[4][13]
