Vim (/vɪm/;[5] kependekan dari Vi IMproved) adalah perangkat lunak penyunting teks bebas dan sumber terbuka untuk sistem operasi Unix. Penyunting ini adalah tiruan yang ditingkatkan dari penyunting teks vi buatan Bill Joy. Penulis Vim, Bram Moolenaar, membuat Vim berdasarkan port editor Stevie untuk Amiga.[6] Vim mulai merilis versi ke publik pada tahun 1991. Vim dirancang untuk digunakan baik dari antarmuka baris perintah dan sebagai aplikasi tersendiri dalam antarmuka pengguna grafis. Vim dirilis di bawah lisensi Vim yang mencakup beberapa klausa amal, mendorong pengguna yang menikmati perangkat lunak dengan gratis sekaligus mempertimbangkan untuk menyumbang kepada anak-anak di Uganda.[3] Lisensi Vim kompatibel dengan Lisensi Publik Umum GNU melalui klausul khusus yang memungkinkan distribusi salinan yang dimodifikasi di bawah GNU GPL versi 2.0 atau yang lebih baru.[3]

Sejak dirilis untuk Amiga, pengembangan lintas platform telah membuatnya tersedia di banyak sistem lain. Pada tahun 2006, Vim terpilih sebagai penyunting teks paling populer di antara pembaca Linux Journal[7] pada tahun 2015 survei pengembang Stack Overflow menemukannya sebagai penyunting teks paling populer ketiga,[8] dan pada tahun 2019 menjadi lingkungan pengembangan paling populer kelima.[9]
