Valeska Suratt (28 Juni 1882 – 2 Juli 1962) adalah aktris film bisu berkebangsaan Amerika Serikat. Sepanjang kariernya, Surrat tampil dalam sebelas film-film bisu yang kemudian diketahui hilang.

Latar belakang

Suratt lahir di Owensville, Indiana puteri dari Ralph dan Anna Suratt. Kakeknya merupakan imigran asal Prancis dan neneknya merupakan imigran dari Inggris. Dia memiliki saudara perempuan tiri, kakak laki-laki, dan adik perempuan. Pada usia enam tahun, keluarganya pindah ke Terre Haute. Dia keluar sekolah pada tahun 1899 dan bekerja di studio foto. Suratt kemudian pindah ke Indianapolis ketika dia bekerja sebagai asisten di gerai topi di pasaraya.[1][2]

Surratt menikah dua kali dan tidak dikaruniai anak. Suami pertamanya adalah William J. Flannery (1869–1950), dikenal sebagai Billy Gould, yang dinikahi pada tahun 1904, seorang komedian yang dikenal melalui peran-peran sebagai penanyi. Kemudian mereka bercerai. Tahun 1911, dia menikah lagi dengan aktor Fletcher Norton yang bertahan sampai kematian Norton tahun 1941. Dia merupakan anggota dari Bahá'í Faith.[3]

Kematian

Valeska Suratt meninggal di sebuah rumah jompo di Washington, D.C. tanggal 2 Juli 1962 pada usia 80 tahun. Suratt dimakamkan di Highland Lawn Cemetery Terre Haute, Indiana.[1]
