Tropisme inang

Tropisme inang atau tropisme saja adalah sifat infeksi dari sebagian patogen yang hanya spesifik menyerang inang dan jaringan inang tertentu. Akibat dari sifat ini, kebanyakan patogen hanya mampu menginfeksi sekelompok organisme inang yang terbatas. Tropisme ini terjadi karena pertumbuhan dan infeksi patogen tersebut hanya dapat terjadi di sel-sel yang memiliki sifat tertentu. Ada beberapa faktor yang mempengaruhi kemampuan patogen menginfeksi suatu sel, yaitu: struktur dari reseptor permukaan sel, keberadaan faktor transkripsi yang dapat mengidentifikasi DNA atau RNA patogen, kemampuan sel atau jaringan untuk mendukung penggandaan virus atau bakteri, dan keberadaan penghalang fisik atau kimia di dalam sel atau di jaringan sekitarnya.[1] Contoh tropisme ini adalah virus HIV yang hanya bisa menginfeksi sel T manusia, karena protein di permukaan virus ini, gp120, hanya bisa bereaksi dengan molekul CD4 dengan adanya koreseptor tertentu di permukaan sel T. Koreseptor-koreseptor ini hanya ada di sel manusia, sehingga virus tersebut hanya menginfeksi manusia dan dikatakan memiliki tropisme terhadap manusia.[2]

Masuknya virus HIV ke sel T CD4+, yang membutuhkan koreseptor-koreseptor yang hanya ada pada sel manusia. Akibatnya, virus ini memiliki tropisme inang terhadap manusia.
